Every time I goto Hua Hin I think about fishing. I usually stay around the beach in the clock tower area and was just wondering if anyone knows of a place to rent fishing rod/reel get bait and a good spot close by that I can get some quality fishing in.
No a pro or anything just always enjoyed fishing and wonder why I don't do it in Hua Hin.
Also an invitation to anyone who would be interested in fishing next time I come down!
Fishing in Hua Hin
Re: Fishing in Hua Hin
Many past posts like yours and no one has had much satisfaction it seems with ocean shore fishing, or even boat fishing unless you go way out. Take a look at the below for a good alternative.

.......further south you can get a good boat for the sea inclusive of fishing.

Re: Fishing in Hua Hin
Thanks, and while I understand the concept of a "fishing lodge" it's not really what I'm interested in. Judging by your response you know exactly what kind of fishing I'm asking about so I wont go into details.
Since you say people haven't had much luck I guess I'll just improvise or try to "get in" with some locals when I get there. I do plan on joining a Muay Thai camp, so maybe one of the locals there will know how/where to just get some lazy ocean side fishing in.
Appreciate the response!!

Re: Fishing in Hua Hin
The locals don't fish around Hua Hin either. There are no fish to speak of. You will see them digging for clams, etc. and they will fish for Squid, but not fish. Fishing will be restricted to fresh water ponds, and rivers. I am like you and never thought I would like the idea of fishing in an "aquarium." But after reading some of the post and seeing some of the fish, I have changed my mind. Will definitely have to visit our sponsor Terry at his Fishing lodge. The types of species he has can give a really good fight and challenge to catch so it is not such a bad thing. And nothing wrong with catch and release. Hope this gives a different perspective. And happy fishing.

Re: Fishing in Hua Hin
There are a few options when choosing to fish around here. Mostly stocked ponds. As mentioned the Hua Hin fishing lodge is nice. Cha Am also has some options. 1 thing I will recommend if you plan on fishing at any of these places more than once is to buy a rod and reel. They are cheap enough and you will save money in the long run. By long run I mean 2-3 fishing trips.

Ok, well in light of all these responses I guess I don't have all that many options. I will definitely check out the fresh water "aquarium" options
although I do prefer to eat what I catch. Guess when in Rome though.
Thanks for all the input guys! You rock!

You'd need a huge appetite to eat one of Terry's fish.
