The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
Re: The Digital Surgery
^ Or they could maybe fit a continuous ink supply (external tanks) to your Epson.
Re: The Digital Surgery
Possibly, but I'm not sure if they do it in house, or just buy them pre-fitted from bangkok
Re: The Digital Surgery
At least one place does. He did mine. Gives 1 year warranty on his work and will fix any little problem during that time. Just can't remember the name right now. It's up the escalator and u-turn to the left. Near the coffee stall.

Epsom Printer Problems
Hello,
thanks for your input.
Most probably I'll buy a different printer.
I've never had problems changing cartridges with our office computers in Germany.
I believe HP is no longer producing printers?
Can you recommend any printers (with cartridges on supply in Hua Hin)?
Thanks!

iMac will not boot up
Hi
I have a 27" iMac running Mavericks OS, about 2 and half years old. I did a software update last week and had not switched on the machine again until this morning. I now get 4 or 5 vertical green bars down the screen on boot-up then it goes to a grey screen of death.
Have tried nvram, safe reboots, didnt work. Will try again this evening.
Anybody come across this issue? Searching some forums there are various responses that it is a software issue, others say hardware - a lot point to graphics.

A friend of mine in Hua Hin bought a 21 inch iMac that would also now be around 2.5 years old and he had the same problem with it. Happily this occurred within the first 12 months and it was repaired by Apple in Bangkok. It was the graphics card that crapped out and this was apparently the fault of a 'bad batch' from what I could understand from the forums at the time.
If you have AppleCare then you're covered but if you don't it may still be worth writing to them and making the case. There may even be some information at the particular serial numbers that were affected. Alternatively, you could try to source a replacement graphics card from any of the retailers on the web (US or Ireland are good places to start) and then go for a home fix.
I'm in HH from the end of next week, if you want anymore help (I've taken my fair share of macs apart over the years), send me a PM and we can arrange something.

This should help further, seems that Apple will provide a free replacement up to four years following purchase:

This program has taken over my toolbar. I'm pretty careful about what I download, but somehow this has snuck into my system. It doesn't show up in Firefox add-ons or in the program install/unistall function. A Malwarebytes scan either doesn't register it or doesn't consider it a threat. I've tried some of the advice on the Internet, but haven't found a way to get rid of it that works. It doesn't appear to be doing any harm, but anything that difficult to get rid of concerns me.
Any advice?

Thanks JJB - I think you are right that seems like the most probable cause.J.J.B. wrote:This should help further, seems that Apple will provide a free replacement up to four years following purchase:

Powerpoint
I'm working on a PowerPoint presentation and want to have two different ppt. files open on dual screens.
When I do this with Word files I simply reduce one file and slide it over to the other screen. If I minimise it, up it pops in the 2nd screen when I maximise it again.
With the ppt. file, when I minimise one file then maximise it, it always replaces the file I already have on the screen, so I end up with one or the other, but never both at the same time. What am I missing?
EDIT: I use Windows 7 with 2 monitors - everything correctly connected and configured.

I'm not entirely sure about the set-up you have D-M but know that PowerPoint has settings on how it deals with dual screen set-ups that are not the same as Windows in general. We often run presentations on two screens although the second screen is generally a projector and this allows you to run the slides full screen while being able to see the editing controls and next slide etc. on the first monitor.
Again, I haven't checked this but it may be worth delving into the settings via preferences/options and seeing what is available to tinker with the dual screen set-up. Alternatively, if you are using one deck as your reference and the other for editing, I suggest you save the reference deck as a pdf version and then slide that across to the screen where you are not performing the edit. PowerPoint slides as pdfs are great for full size viewing and I believe this is a free option on more recent versions of PowerPoint.

Volume on U Tube
I had a a few last night and can roughly remember hitting something on You Tube. The result is that I can hear everything but I can't alter the noise - ie upwards.
Can someone tell me how to adjust the volume?
BTW, audio works OK off the hard drives.

A Utube problem
So, I managed to hit a button a couple of days ago. The volume is now just hearable.
I've hit every button on the screen that I can see but the volume remains the same - ie just audible.
Every other music off hard drives works OK.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm sure it'll just be question of "hitting the right/wrong button again" but I'm all at sea and fancy watching some Ry Cooder.

Re: A Utube problem
Are you sure you didn't accidentally hit the mute button at the left of the volume sliding control? If you did, there will be a line through it - just click on it again.
