Jockey 17th August 2006 rust no one

Post by Fatty »

Hi Jockey (and everyone else)

I heard a couple of people discussing your topic in the Hilton last nite. Thought I would have a look. I agree with your sentiments entirely and have had very similar problems. I bought a house in HH a while back. The thai builder stole 500,000 baht, i'm ashamed to say on the recommendation of a certain respectable farang. The wedding you mentioned, we were invited but although I tried to convince myself to go we decided not to, bit of a PR job we were told. I think most of the undesirables I know in HH were at that wedding. Like you, we don't trust anyone apart from our immediate family. We never socialise in any of the typical farang bars/restaurants, and only venture out in the evening when my family and friends visit, and then we only go to thai restaurants that aren't used by farang.

I had a business overseas and thought stupidly that similar rules would apply here, how wrong could I be. My friend who has recently bought a house in HH has discovered that the cpmpany his LAWYER formed isn't legal, he asked why and was told the LAWYER isn't a REAL LAWYER !!!!.

Apparently there are many in the same boat in HH and the bubble is about to burst.

Jockey sorry to hear about your problems sir, but if it helps some of those who have done you wrong are about to get their just deserts.

I rarely use this forum for anything serious due to it's blatant cover-up attitude, but I hope you read it. [/b]

Your post was quite constructive up until the stupid comment there.

If you're refering to the "name and shame" policy I'm sure even someone of your vast intelligence should be able to fathom the reprocussions this website would get if we went around slagging everyone off publically like you seem to enjoy doing.

Smells like a troll to me. :guns:

Hilton is a Thai restaurant where the falang are conspicuously absent?

How did he do that Fatty, did you pay him the cash up front for 'materials' ??

You should always have a contract with a Thai builder where you pay him AFTER stages of construction are complete. Make them stages of around 200,000 Baht's worth of work.

They often want/need a deposit upfront to get going, make it around 100,000 Baht to limit your liability.

Watching this one with interest.

As an observation and not knowing fatty, my guess is that English is not his native tongue.

Some of his comments, twice now, have been perhaps a little rash - but it sounds as though he is a guy who has been stitched up previously and is now (over?) cautious.

Someone has recently observed, on another thread, that when using the written word the correct emphasis is not always portrayed.

Some of the comments aimed at fatty seem, to me, unnecessarily aggressive - unless I'm missing something.

Thanks PeteB I'm not a rash or difficult person by nature, and complaining I find hard, however, there seems to be a nucleus of business people in HH who are all connected and delight in stitching people up. I was foolish but feel I must warn potential targets of the pitfalls.

Fatty,

You still haven't explained how you were conned out of 500,000 Baht ?

Well, if English isn't Fatty's mother tongue, he certainly deserves an accolade for such an eloquent statement

Hi Burger, not important really about the money. Got over that just thought I would respond to Jockeys topic. No mileage in continueing with this thread. It will be closed, HHAD are all on the take.

Sorry Fatty there's obviously an undercurrent here that I'm not party too.

Knowing some of the guys personally, I believe that you may have over reacted - I hope so!

Whatever has happened you truly have my sympathy, but please be more cautious with your comments.

I too think that this thread should be closed.
