For my upcoming 6 month stay (only 6 weeks to go ), I need to hire the services of a maid for general cleaning, washing, ironing, etc. I think I'll need her 2 or 3 times a week.

I'll just start with some general comments:
1) Finding a full time maid (5-6 days per week) would be easier than finding part time help. These ladies want a steady, full time job.
2) The best time and place to find a maid is after you move in and talk to your neighbors and/or the agent handling your property. They will know someone who knows someone and wouldn't be surprised if you get several applicants.
3) I'm not sure of part time maid costs, I assume around 300-400 per day. Monthly full time (5 days per week) around 8,000 if she's good.

How about maids not to hire? 
1) Stay away from good lookers in short skirts or tight shorts. She may be looking for some other position, perhaps horizontal.
2) Don't hire one who looks in your refrigerator during the interview.
3) Avoid any maid who shows up for the interview with her kids or pets.
4) Be cautious if one of the first questions is about days off and how long is lunch break.
5) Have your TV tuned to a Thai soap channel when she arrives for the interview, see if you can get her attention without using explosives.
