Re: Faulty ATM

I've had my debit card cloned three times now in Thailand, despite being very careful to check the ATMs I use. The cloned card has never been used straight away though, always a few weeks down the line, and every time Barclays have refunded me without any issue.

What I would advise though is to get a second current account so you have two debit cards - that way you can switch funds between accounts if one has a problem, and you can still get cash if your bank has to freeze one of your cards.

What originally prompted me to do that though was when the rogue ATM at the Bintabaht 7/11 ate a guy's debit card for no reason, leaving him dependant on his credit cards (with their attendant fees..) to fund the rest of his trip..
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

You can never be too cautious with the Thai ATMs. Or for any other country's ATMs.
Right, if this is happening in Europe, you can bet it's here as well...

"Stealthy, Razor Thin ATM Insert Skimmers"

"An increasing number of ATM skimmers targeting banks and consumers appear to be of the razor-thin insert variety. These card-skimming devices are made to fit snugly and invisibly inside the throat of the card acceptance slot. Here’s a look at a stealthy new model of insert skimmer pulled from a cash machine in southern Europe just this past week."

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
