You can get the glue boards in 7-11 for around 40 bht.

Place some fruit in the middle of the board and let the greedy little shit walk it's way to a sticky end.

We have one of those ones which is a small cage with a sprung door, I think it came from one of those small hardware shops opposite the back of the day market.
It catches the rat alive and then my partner disposes of them by letting them out in front of one the dogs which makes short work of them. This is kinder towards animals as the dog doesn't have to stay up all night waiting for the rat to come out!

Or your partner, either! :rasta:
I have found those cage types to be the best. If you don`t have a dog or partner, just put the trapped rodent and cage in a bucket of water until snuffed.
If you use those horrible glue boards buy a packet of disposible gloves, as the sticky shite gets everywhere without fail.
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

^ We have two of those also and have used them successfully. However, I find the bait much better, faster and gets rid of a multitude quickly. You just need to put it in a controlled place where pets or other animals won't get into it, i.e., a shallow plastic cup up in the attic, in the laundry room corner etc. You will know it's working by the smell a few days on. Follow your nose for corpse collection. They never die where the bait is but usually within a 20 meter radius as it takes a few hours to work. If you're lucky, they go over the fence and to the neighbors before they expire.

EDIT: They really like to nest in attics, at least where I am. I guess these are "roof rats"? If you have that problem, cut back any trees with branches over the roof so they can't get up there and through the end spaces in the roof tile that lead to the attic. I've gone a step further and put aluminum sheet on tree trunks near the house, similar to what you see at hotels on their coconut trees. Just make it tall enough (about 3/4 meter) so they can't jump it and reach the trunk on the other end.

I have used the bait also. Just need to put it where other animals can't get to it. Only takes a day or two and the rats will be no more. Very effective.

They used to run around the attic in rental house we were in and a paper plate of them in the attic and they were gone in a day or two. When they eat all the bait up over time, you will have to add more bait to the plate.

Suppose to make the rats thirsty and they go out to drink water and can't get enough until they drink to their death. Don't have to worry about them dying in the attic.

Note: If you have a lot of rats around, you'll surely have a lot of snakes as well.

in England i had a large number of chickens so had to be careful with using bait, i also was careful not to give the chickens more food then they were actually going to eat, as the rats would just eat whatever was left.
But while i was re-building part of the chicken-run, i found out the rats had been stock-piling the poison in a secret place until the winter set in :o

Depends for what you want to catch them ? For eating, for a rat zoo or get rid of them.
With the trap you catch them alive, for eating or for your zoo.
For getting rid of them the best is the glue board at Shopping Mall, its cheap. Just put some food at the center and in the morning you will find this nice animal sticked.

So you want it for dinner or something!!
It does not matter where you come from, it's where you are going that matters.
