Beach Chair Operator Bullies Foreign Tourist on Koh Larn

http://www.pattaya-funtown.com/news.html

Land of Smiles? A YouTube clip showing an argument between a pushy beach chair operator and a female foreign tourist on Koh Larn has drawn increased calls for a cleanup of Thailand's beaches.
The clip was uploaded to YouTube on Friday only and has already been viewed more than 100,000 times. The video shows a foreign woman of unknown nationality being approached by a deckchair vendor at Koh Larn's Nang Nual beach as she sits on a towel in the sand. The Bangkok Post: "The man tells the woman she has to leave the spot and rent a chair and umbrella from him instead. The tourist initially refuses but later starts to pack up her things. The man walks around her, kicking sand into her beach towel. The angry tourist gets up and flings her sand-filled towel at the man, who responds by pushing her away. The pair argue briefly and the woman walks away."..................................

Thailand is just full of bullshit and thugs.

Mrs BB has Thai News on TV, and it's being shown on there. IMHO definitely building support for a clean up.

[Edit] The Burmese worker is being paraded on TV like a murderer with a dozen satisfied police officers stood behind him. It may sound crazy, but they're now showing a reconstruction of his crime (as if You Tube wasn't enough). TIT

There is something a bit fishy about that film clip, why would someone be filming a stranger on a beach being approached by a dechchair vendor?

They were obviously practicing for the police reconstruction

Is this the transparency they keep talking about?

Phuket did it well when I first went there 10+ years ago. There was a designated sleaze area, around soi bangla and no gogo, street pros allowed anywhere else. Pattaya talked about, no new sleaze areas a few years ago, but being determined and consistent is not a Thai characteristic. I'm amazed that HHhas held the line.

This is exactly what was running through my mind. Pretty close by, too.

If you watch the way that the camera pans and zooms, it's pretty professional filming as well, that wasn't made by someone with a handheld tourist camera or smartphone.

Sometimes you have to wonder if these news stories are just a 'wind up' or just trying to keep Thailand in the media spotlight.

^ I noticed that too after a second view and guess the set up was such that that is why the sunbathers shown don't seem to be at all concerned. They probably thought is was a movie take for 'The Beach 2' :)

I guess there isn`t any Russian "mafia" around that area!

What really surprises me is: why didn`t the big floozie deliver him a swift kick in the cojones? She certainly appeared to be big enough!

I suppose his "boss" will now have to find someplace else to intimidate people.
