Some info about Bangkokbank please

Post by Takiap »

Hi everyone.
I've been living here for some time and have a bangkok bank account. I receive a lot of cheques from persons in the UK and until now I have just had them deposited into my UK bank account. Could anyone tell me if its possible to deposit UK bank cheques into my Thai bank account and if so, are there charges involved?

Thanks
Shane

Yes, you can do it.
Yes, there are charges involved (not huge, but depends what you're depositing)
What you will probably find to be the biggest problem is the time factor. All of your cheques will need to be sent back to UK for validation. That means, from time of deposit, your cheques will take anything from 2 weeks to 1 month (or more!) to clear, depending on holidays, postal delays etc. Easier to deposit in UK & draw via ATM or transfer larger sums to Thailand.

Best air con in town though. No better place to have to wait for a fortnight.
