The Digital Surgery (computer questions/problems here)
Re: The Digital Surgery
I haven't used MS Word for a while, but the problem with new docs could be related to your default (or normal) template. This link might be helpful for Word 2013 if you want some advice about changing the default template.
No idea about your problems editing existing docs though. I have had similar problems (fonts, styles, etc corrupting) in documents that had been edited many times and using different versions of word. On occasion I just gave up and extracted the plain text and reformatted the whole document. A royal pain!

I put your entire message into Google, and the responses seem to be blaming Skype and add ons. Try it yourself, and something might sound familiar.

Anybody used 'Speedy PC pro'? Been a lot of good reports about it but thought I'd float it on this thread first to get some honest feedback

The name itself doesn't rest easy with me - sounds like the kind of rubbish that gets installed along with other software when you're not careful during the installation process.
And the reports here would seem to back my misgivings.

Re: The Digital Surgery
I'm currently staying in the middle of town and can access the internet through a number of wifi points.
Over the last couple of days the quality of internet connection has plummeted, with repeated page load failures, long waits and the ability to stream video gone.
Is my ancient notebook to blame (running IE on XP) or are others experiencing difficulties?

I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

I've had abysmal and erratic performance over the last week or so. I put it down to 3BBB though

Mine's been working fine apart from something with Facebook 2 evenings ago. 100% now.

I have 3BBB and no problems at all, downloading and streaming fast

Re: The Digital Surgery
I don't usually have any problems with 3BBB and can only assume it depends on location. I am in Condo Chain and with all the digging and jiggery pokery going on down towards the centre of town anything can happenPET wrote:richard wrote:I've had abysmal and erratic performance over the last week or so. Re: The Digital Surgery
I'm using TrueInternet fibre and the speed tests have not gone above 2Mbs for the last few days. Usually around 18Mbs, I live very close to Bangkok hospital, so almost town centre.
Will give it until tomorrow before contacting True, hopefully it will be sorted before then.

Re: The Digital Surgery
My wife's having trouble connecting to my TOT wi-fi through her new phone. The old one works fine.
She called the mobile company and they suggested that I change my wi-fi password to one they gave but I'm not sure how to do this.
Can anyone help?

Re: The Digital Surgery
You need to login to the wifi router to do this, address is usually 192.168.1.1, login and password admin.

Re: The Digital Surgery
Maybe it's the phone, perhaps she needs another new one...

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Re: The Digital Surgery
3BB internet speed - I've just had 3BB round (very prompt for a Sunday) because I lost my connection for a few hours early this morning and it's been ridiculously slow for some time now.
Nice chaps, they were here for quite a while, testing the router, the cables, etc. The conclusion was that the problem wasn't so much with the connection, but with my PC. This was demonstrated by the fact that while my PC at the time was giving a download speed of 4-5 Mbps (about the best it's been for weeks!), their laptop using my wifi was giving 8-9.
They suggested I take the PC to an IT shop in Cha-am. I don't mind doing this for a good reason, though I can't stop using it at the moment. Its drives are fairly full, but not jam-packed. It was cleaned up recently.
My Thai is passable at best, but I don't speak computerese in any language. Can the Doctor confirm that the above explanation makes sense?
