Alnwick Castle
It has been in the same family for 700 years
The owner at the time wasn't Henry the 8th

Shouldn't take more than a minute or two on Google to work this out!

Blimey, I'd forgotten all about it.

Alnwick Castle
It has been in the same family for 700 years - the Percy family
The owner at the time wasn't Henry the 8th - it was Henry, the 9th earl of Northumberland, who spent 15 (comfortable) years imprisoned in the Tower of London on suspicion of being involved in the Gunpowder Plot. (He wasn't, but his brother was.)

Wasn't one of the recent PM/Generals involved in a TV cooking show?

I think this has something to do with Pad Thai being made a kind of national dish but it goes back many years and I forget the details.

DM, for non wiki readers
According to Australian chef and Thai food expert, David Thompson, it came about as the result of a nationwide competition under the military regime of Martial Phibun. In an attempt to revive the Thai economy by encouraging the production of rice noodles, he tasked the country with devising new noodle-based recipes. Salty, sweet and sour with the crunch of peanut and a kick of lime, the winning recipe was named pad thai, or ‘fried Thai style’. The rest, as they say, is history. (I believe the competition outcome in true Thai style was won by the wife of a general.

This begs the question what over dishes have military connections by name of origin?
I can only think of one.

I think I must have read about that in an article by David Thompson in an airline magazine because it rang a bell although the details had slipped out of my mind.
