Some of them have been good posters and it's too bad they couldn't at least carry through to let us all know how their stay went. This is of course after many of us spent a lot of time answering their quesions in the first place. Some would have made very good regulars on here.

Quilty as charged

I've been in here before, but forgot my ID - left for a while.

It is Mallorca, not Majorca.

Jamie YOUR WRONG :D It's Ma-jaw-ca!!

Heineken: 1984
Scene: The School of Street Credibility. Ron, the voice tutor (played by Bryan Pringle) points to a board which says: "The water in Majorca don't taste like what it oughta" and is trying to teach a posh girl (played by Sylvestra La Touzel) how to say it in Cockney.

Posh girl: The water in Ma-York-ah doesn't taste like what it ought to.

Ron: No! no, no, no! The wart-er in Ma-jaw-ca don't taste like what it oughta!

Posh girl: The water in Ma-York-a doesn't taste quite how it should?

Ron: Ma-jaw-ca!

Posh girl: Ma-York-ah?

Ron: Ma-jaw-w-ca!

Posh girl: Ma-York-ah?

An exasperated Ron: 'Oy Del — any danger of some refreshment in 'ere?

Del: 'Ere y'are — get yer laughin' gear round that! (hands a can of Heineken to the girl)

Posh Girl: Oh golly! .... The wart-er in Majawca (Ron: Wassat?) don't taste like what it oughta. Oh gosh! The wart-er in Ma-jaw-ca don't taste like what it oughta! (Sniff)

Ron: She's crackin'! She's only cracked it!

Del: Yah, absolutely Ron!

Voice-over: Heineken — refreshes the parts what other beers cannot reach!

[A parody of Pygmalion or My Fair Lady, voted one of the best UK ads ever in a Channel 4 poll. "Majawca" (for Majorca) has stuck with many Brits ever since.]

Yes, travel broadens the mind. Confirms prejudices too.

Can anyone tell me what side of the road you drive on in Thailand. We won't be renting a vehicle but don't want to have our holiday spoiled by another accident while crossing the road. If they drive on the right like in foreign countries does anyone know how we can practice before we leave England? We live in Droitwich.
No worries. They drive on the 'right'side of the road.

And what's the food like?
Mostly tasteless slop.

Can we get decent English food at the Hilton Hotel?
No such thing as decent English food. Sorry.

We went down to London for my sister Rene's Silver Wedding and stayed at a hotel overlooking Finsbury Park. Would you believe it? London is supposed to be the capital of England and we couldn't even get proper fish and chips.
Only really top rich people live in London. They eat snails and such.

Do they show Holby City on Thai TV?

Where is the nearest Bingo Hall to the Hilton?
Bingo parlours on soi Binthabat.

How do you tell a he from a she?
Meat and two veg. Its not fish n' chips but a meal all the same.
Is it true what they say about Chinese ladies' naughty bits?
Confucius say, "Drive car upside down, have crack up."

How do you say "No thank you, we are English" in Thai?
No need. If they don't understand just say it louder until they do.

I look forward to your illumination on these matters
Yer welcome. 8)

I was only trying to be nice to someone. It does not come naturally to me.

You have reminded me I forgot to add the categrory about people who moan about paying 20 baht over the odds for roast pork. :neener: :D

BTW. I have got you boys to beat Blackbum tomorrow. I hope they don't let me down.
