You can get 2.6% at Kbank, not great but better than the UK.

Depends on the amount and the term.

Bangkok Bank are offering 3.10% on 1 Million for 7 months, or 2.75% for 4 months on smaller amounts.
Don`t forget that they withhold 15% tax before you can withdraw it.

I understand the Government Savings bank have some kind of lottery with the amount of entries you get subject to the amount you save. The overall rate is less but this can be supplemented by any winnings from the draw. A friend does this and reckons he is as well off as in the other banks with a couple of wins plus the chance of a much bigger win if you are really lucky. Not so good for those wanting the O-A visa money though as apparently they will not issue the letter on the same day which is required for the renewal.

Thanks guys, I will pop in and see what they say. Like Buks said better than the UK, in fact better than most places these days, except maybe Australia were they still give up to 4% minus tax of 30% plus, down side for Oz is the currency is dropping like a stone, down 14% in six months.

The following link gives all Thai bank rates but not the ones you guys have mentioned

Steve, not a fixed rate but Krungsri Savings Mee Tae Dai Deposit Account pays 2.3% on 100,000 to 10 mill Baht. It's not fixed but has been that rate for around a year now as that is where I keep my 800,000 for my visa.

Also 30% deducted at source means an equivalent return of 2.8% ( excluding the currency risk )

We got 3% for a 10 month deposit at Bangkok Bank a while back. The funny thing was that the rate was lower for a longer term... Thai logic in action again.
