Turkish tourist shot dead in Koh Samui

Post by buksida »

A Turkish tourist was shot dead outside a Koh Samui pub early Friday, allegedly by a security guard who argued with him outside the Chaweng beach bar.

The unidentified 34-year-old Turk sustained gunshots to the head and abdomen in front of the Solo Bar in tambon Bopud of Surat Thani province. Two pistols - a .38 and a 9mm loaded with bullets - a knife, and about 100,000 baht cash, were found near the body, Thai media reported.

Kabin Srisa-ard, the security guard who allegedly shot him, waited for police to surrender.

According to police, the Turkish tourist went to the Solo Bar drunk about 2am Friday and asked staffers to open the venue to serve him. An employee told him the pub was closed, but the man insisted on entering and blustered before leaving.

Shortly later, he returned and made loud noise in front of the bar. He then got into an argument with Mr Kabin, during which the Turk pulled a gun on him, police said. Mr Kabin fired his own weapon in self-defence, investigators reported.

I read that yesterday in a thai newspaper (http://m.khaosod.co.th/readnews.php?newsid=1423822040) and it seems that this Turkish "tourist" was known as a gangster running several businesses on Koh Samui. Some drug was found on him too. Seems that the BKK post is rather slow to get detailed information...

I don't care what the situation is that caused it, just keep these shootings of farangs up and watch tourism decline. Appears like the police need to do their job and get these gangsters out of the country or in jail before more of this happens. Fat chance of that happening.

Shadowy figure of a "tourist" (probably a very generous description) drunk, Friday 2 am, Chaweng beach bar strip, mouths-off at the staff and expects the bar to open just for him and doesn't take the cue/way out that the locals offer him and then later reportedly comes back with a shooter to cause trouble.

Well, what could go wrong?

Looking at the photos in the linked article above, the bar in question seems to be largely made and furnished out of reinforced concrete which is probably an indication of the quality of their clientele.

The whole story stinks!
IF he was a known gangster on the island, if he was known to get blitzed ever now and again, then ever bar & club will have known him...that includes every doorman too.
IMO this was a hit ...end of.
The MiB will have known all about of his colourful lifestyle, he was probably fully 'paid up', but for some reason
he's been 'taken care of'...???????

No Burmese scapegoats to blame this time then eh?
