Typical of our away performances in the CL - bad luck combined with poor play = defeat. All of the teams have given themselves a chance which probably reflects the quality of the group
Yes I am now looking forward to the Man Utd game as I do all European games at Parkhead and unlike most, I will be there.
BB, Sorry to disagree but this will not be the final countdown, even if we win, simply another outcome of an ongoing battle.
The good thing is a) we were poor tonight and b) we still have some of our key players to come back for the next two games - I know Man Utd will say the same. We can still qualify, it is in our hands.
And yes I truly hope the best teams do win.

I started this thread as an alternative to the Celtic thread but it has mobed alongside. Not surprising really as it is the most interesting right now with not only two British teams in the group but ist is still open.
I personal hope that Celtic make it a hatrick of home wins and send Manure south with their tails behind ther legs. If Celtic fail to win then the number of if and buts becomes uncountable with only Manure guaranteed a place. Anyway all will be revealed ijn a couple of weeks. Celtic can and must beat Manure next and then be able to travel to Denmark to a much better chance than even of qualifying.
On another related topic, I have been trawling through various websites trying to find the qualifyng criteria but cannot. Does anybody know. In a points draw who comes first the team with the better record against the other or the team with the highest goal difference.
As for Chelsea. it was publicised that only a draw was needed which they got. Many people have said since that Chelsea have indeed qualified except the BBC. When I checked the figures the BBC are right. Chelsea are not through technically yet.

Trotter, that was not the best days tipping and has now thrown the group open. I would still think Manure will qualify, but will be hard for Celtic from now on.
Another solid performance from Chelsea again, 4 out of 6 points from Barcelona was a good return and should ensure passage to the next round of matches

A look at todays results: Benfica 3 Celtic 0 & FC Copenhagen 1 Manure 0.Benfica are not the force they once were, and Copenhagen never were a force.

Are you going to your home game with Inverness next Saturday? Think we will be without our goalkeeper who got sent off today so hope you don't score too many. I will be in one of the seats below you, as normal. All organised. Will give you a wave.Thai Tam wrote:Typical of our away performances in the CL - bad luck combined with poor play = defeat. Hi Ken,
I will know aorund Wednesday/Thursday when we begin to call each other - Mick our main driver travels up from London and he'll let me know then. Maybe have Calum with me!!!
Was at the Hearts game last week - poor game, but the climax was incredible and made for a good journey back down South.
If I go to the game I'll call you and you can give me a wave - I sit up and to the left of the Directors' box.
Take care and have a safe journey.
All the best,
Tam

Rule c is the one that ensures Celtic qualify. Last Saturday I was chatting to the Celtic finance director about the first Man U game and he was commenting on the fact that although it had been a good game, Celtic hadn't won any points. I replied that perhaps the close 3-2 scoreline might help later but I said it without any real conviction. Great night for Celtic and a continuation of a quite remarkable home record. I understand the best in Europe! Agreed Guess, rule f would not have been much use in the circumstances.
Does not seem such a bad day of tipping now does it?chelsea wrote:Trotter Wrote:A look at todays results: Benfica 3 Celtic 0 & FC Copenhagen 1 Manure 0.Benfica are not the force they once were, and Copenhagen never were a force.

You really are a glutton for punishment Jockey and don't forget you can still meet Manure again where this time they will be out for revenge.Jockey wrote: Bring on Arsenal or Chelsea (we love playing English opposition)
If I were a Celtic Supporter the last thing I would want is to meet an English team in the second round. But as I said on your own thread on Celtic v Manu, before you highjacked this one, it looks like a very realistic chance that that will happen.
I would personally rather see Chelsea slaughter Celtic later on in the competition. Maybe even the final.
