15 day visa extension
15 day visa extension
Hi I am a farang who needs only 15 days visa extension.(I am leaving Thailand in 15 days)
can this be done at Singkorn border?
if not, what is nearest border with Birma?
to do a visa run via a Thai-Birma immigration point, do you need a Birma visa to access to Birma before you come back the same day?
Thanks, Tim.

Re: 15 day visa extension
what type of visa do you have? If you're here on a tourist visa, or a 30-day visa-exempt stamp (and possibly other types, the experts will advise in time, I'm sure), then you can extend it for 30 days at Hua Hin Immigration office. No need to cross the border.
Re: 15 day visa extension
Above is correct. 30 day extensions are available for both tourist visas and 30 day visa exempt stamps.
Cost is 1,900 THB. Done at Imm here.

Re: 15 day visa extension
actually I have a marriage visa which I will renew abroad after I leave Thailand within 15 days after extension
Re: 15 day visa extension
What type of visa do you have? There's no such thing as a marriage visa.
You can get an annual extension on the basis of marriage to a Thai or maybe you have an Non Immigrant O visa that was granted for the same reason.
If you have the O visa, that can't be extended for 30 days, only a year and you need to prove finances etc.

Re: 15 day visa extension
I do not wish to extend my O Visa. I will apply a new one abroad. But between my last day of my 1 year O visa and my departure are 15 days. So if I can go to Birma and come back with a 15 days stamp, than my problem is solved. So does anyone know where to get this 15 day border crossing and if I need a Birma visa to do this?
Re: 15 day visa extension
You can do a border run from Ranong to Burma. You'll get 30 days when you return.
No need for a Burmese visa but you will need USD to pay for your entry and exit stamps there.
It's years since I did that run. Hopefully someone can advise you of how many USD you'll need.

Re: 15 day visa extension
Are you sure you understand the situation and the rules correctly?
The visa is the stamp/sticker in your passport issued by a Thai embassy. On the basis of that you were given leave to enter Thailand, presumably for 3 months. Your leave to enter was extended on the basis of marriage. The visa has been irrelevant since you arrived. Why would you want to get a new visa and start the whole process again, rather than simply applying for another 12-month extension?

This is the way
Re: 15 day visa extension
Actually it is easy: I will renew my marriage visa but that is much more easy in my home country than going through the 10+ documents and pictures the immigration asks here locally.
So Ranong is the nearest? What about Sing Khorn? Not open yet?

Re: 15 day visa extension
The latter is not open for westerners to do border runs.
It's just terminology, but as said before there's no such thing as a marriage visa. I expect you get a Non Imm O visa because you're married to a Thai. The "O" stands for "other" and can be obtained for a number of reasons, retirement being the other main one.
As you originally mentioned a marriage visa, it's easy to get confused with annual extensions which is why you didn't get the correct info straight away.

15 day visa extension
Off topic but seen as though it's immigration related...
I went to HH immigration today as instructed in my 'under consideration' stamp relating to my annual extension.
I arrived and was told that my application had not yet been approved from Bangkok and that I should come back in a week in a weeks time.
I didn't think think to ask at the time but the 'under consideration' stamp in my passport expires as of today.
Does that mean that as of tomorrow I have overstayed or caused a problem with my status (even though I am waiting on the immigration dept)??
Is is best to go back tomorrow and try to find out my status in this instance?

Re: 15 day visa extension
Unless anybody comes back with a definitive answer, I would definitely go tomorrow, if not for any other reason, I suspect immigration will be closed most of next week because of Songkran holidays
Re: 15 day visa extension
Agree. Probably best to go back. I would have thought they'd have given you a further 7 days under consideration - in your passport.

15 day visa extension
I went back today on advice received from here.
Explained my worry, ask if I was an 'overstay' and what would happen should the police get hold of my passport and see the 'under consideration' expiry.
He said not to worry about the overstay or expiry part and just to wait for my application to be approved by BKK.
He also said there are many similar expiry cases so not to worry about things.
I'll try not to then.
