200 Baht Admission to Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
Re: 200 Baht Admission to Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
It's a shopping complex, and not a good one at that. I personally won't jump through their hoops. They've lost me and my visitors.

Re: 200 Baht Admission to Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
Been there loads of times but will not pay 200 baht; like a previous poster I showed a Thai driving license and was waved through with my Thai partner. It's ok and a nice little drive from my house. I usually take a coffee in the first coffee shop on the left just after entering while the babe and her sister etc walk around spending 'their' money.
Like to eat there, the Thai food is cheap and it is good exercise for a walk but again like many here it is fact that it is a shopping experience and to pay for that privilege is ridiculous. I don't understand this concept of charging for shopping, Santorini does, Ventetzia supposedly has reintroduced it (not in December when I was there) although if 60+ it's free and now the Floating Market, crazy concept. You only need to walk around Ventetzia on a weekday to realise that charging has produced a ghost town with many shops empty or closed.

That floating market is absolutely garbage, on my only visit I could not find anything I would want to buy, the place was tatty, the whole experience was one of amusement at how such a crappy place could ever be built. To now hear that they want o charge 400 baht just to enter, well I am pee-ing myself laughing at the stupidity.
Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.......says who?

Why do you care?
ONLY a 200 Baht fee is just as stupid to pay 1.ooo . Baht.
I wouldn't even pay 1 Baht to enter their so called floating market which should be free of any charge.
OF COURSE!!!

I don't care, it gives me a great excuse to avoid yet another themed shopping mall selling the same tat.
I'd love to see the business plan though - should make amusing reading i.e.:
- Let the Bankokians in free to take their selfies.
- Alienate the visitors looking for cheap tat to take home as souveniers by trying to charge them an outrageous cover charge to go shopping.
I saw the same business plan in operation at Venezia. Tour bus drops 50 people off at Venezia. At least 49 people sit by the turnstile waiting for the bus to pick them up.

I do care because I like facts and real info. I dont pay to go in but I do go with my girlfriend and daughter and they have a great day, do you ever put yourself out for your family.Norseman wrote:Why do you care?

I also know people who don't care about double pricing and accept it because it is their choice so real facts, real data about attractions etc in Hua Hin is one of the reasons I am on this forum.
As for you not wishing to pay 1 baht that is your perogative but please dont suggest everybody else who wishes to pay is stupid, it is for many just a personal choice based on the standards that Thailand offers and sometimes living with it is better than whining all the time about it. Sounds to me like you would complain about paying 3 baht to use a toilet. Staying in doors seems like your best bet.
Re: 200 Baht Admission to Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
I don't wan't to use 25 satang to look that cra. again, and my wife wouldn't use 1 baht of her hard earned money to buy anything there,so in my opinion close the thing down ,whit all the other's crab things that satisfied people for a miniute or two.
Re: 200 Baht Admission to Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
Have you ever met a Thai that even knows what a business plan is? I never did; not even my wife when she wanted to open a business. They just think you just do it and it works. No plan, no customer or competition survey... they use the Nike exercise business plan: "Just Do It", and when they discover that they are losing money their answer is to raise the price.I'd love to see the business plan though
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I always feel sorry for the people selling in these shops. Would they have actually signed a contract on their little shop if they'd known the management company would alienate their potential market?

Re: 200 Baht Admission to Sam Phan Nam Floating Market
That bit I agree, the same goes for Venetzia. We have a choice, they probably only realistically have a choice once their lease runs out so there could be a 'real' financial burden for them.Big Boy wrote:I always feel sorry for the people selling in these shops. "alienate their potential market?"
Farangs are hardly their potential market. Visit any one of these 'theme markets' and you will find the punters are 99% Thai. Losing the farang income is not even a drop in the ocean.
