Rewind singer collapses after wearing 12 layers of clothing on flight

A member of a Scottish boy band is "lucky to be alive" after collapsing with heat exhaustion on board a flight.
James McElvar, a singer in the band Rewind, fell ill after wearing 12 layers of clothing to avoid paying the £45 extra baggage fee.
McElvar threw up and was given oxygen during the Easyjet flight travelling from Stansted to Glasgow.
The airline said it had one of the most generous cabin bag allowances, with no upper weight limit.
The 19-year-old, from Cumbernauld, had intended to take a suitcase and a small rucksack on board, but the airline only permits passengers to have one piece of hand luggage.

After being told he would be charged an additional fee to take the extra bag on board, he emptied the rucksack and wore the contents.
McElvar was wearing four jumpers, six T-shirts, three pairs of jeans, two pairs of jogging bottoms, two jackets and two hats when he collapsed.

Paramedics reportedly told him he was "lucky to be alive".

"Woman Pleasures Herself While Driving A Mini, Crashes Into A Van"

"A driver has been left red-faced after she crashed her Mini into the back of a van - while pleasuring herself.

The anonymous woman, who was stuck in traffic at the time, got a jolt from the blue when her car suddenly lurched forwards and hit the M&J Seafood van in front of her.

Described as “fit” and in her 30s, the woman swapped details after the accident - but it wasn’t until van bosses checked the footage from the camera at the back of the vehicle that they noticed what caused the crash.

The woman had been using a sex toy on herself, possibly to alleviate the boredom of traffic.

A source told Gloucestershire Echo that the van driver was worried about getting the sack as the accident happened on his first ever shift for the company.

They said: “The bosses told him it wasn’t his fault and then said ‘Have you seen this?’.

“He was like 'what the ****’.

“They all had a good laugh. Apparently the lady was pretty fit.”

Despite a lot of requests, M&J Seafood are refusing to release the video, saying the matter was in the hands of their insurers.

Wonder if they have policies that cover for what that woman was up to…"

A Grimsby Town fan has been found guilty of assaulting a football steward with an inflatable shark.
Kenneth Meech, 51, of Alexandra Road, Cleethorpes, watched his club win 3-1 at Barnet in a Conference game on 21 February.
Willesden Magistrates' Court heard he assaulted Barnet steward Cgagi Gladyng as he celebrated the victory.
Meech, who was among nearly 1,000 fans who travelled to The Hive stadium, denied a charge of common assault.
Mr Gladyng, 59, told the court he was hurt by the inflatable which was being waved "like an axe" and described the three blows to his head "as like being hit by a roll of paper".
He said he became frightened as the Grimsby Town fans surged towards the pitch.

'A bit deflated' ..... :D

Meech was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £700 in costs, compensation of £100 and a victim surcharge.
He was not made the subject of a football banning order.
Speaking after the sentencing, he claimed the prosecution was a "waste of the taxpayer's money".
"I'm a bit deflated, to be honest," he said.
"Very surprised and shocked by the verdict, but got to respect what the court has said.
"I think if this didn't happen at football I wouldn't be here today, I'm sure of that."

Maybe this should be in "snakes in the garden:

Which is worse: Snake bite or hospital bill?

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/offbe ... ital-bill/

The bite of a rattlesnake is one painful American experience. The US healthcare system is another.

An American man is twice bitten after feeling the fangs of both.
Todd Fassler was trying to take a selfie with a rattlesnake when he was bitten, KGTV in San Diego reports
Antivenene was taken from two different hospitals to treat Mr Fassler.

The bill included a list of items such as pharmacy ($US83,341.25) and laboratory services ($US22,433.00) adding up to $US153,161.25.

The pharmacy bill includes the cost of antivenene.
The Washington Post's Wonkblog says the bill shows everything wrong with the American health care system.
Christopher Ingraham writes that many Americans are bamboozled by the size of their healthcare bills, how the services and treatments are itemised and how much they actually have to pay after companies have haggled over the final price and insurance is paid out.
It reported that a Missouri man died in May after refusing to seek medical care because he could not afford it.

Now, taking a "selfie" can be up for mixed reviews at the best of times - one with a Rattlesnake could and should be classed as fairly idiotic IMHO...... I'm assuming whatever medical/travel insurance was taken out wouldn't cover that one!!

YOU WOULD THINK THERE WOULD BE A BREAK JOINT TO PREVENT THINGS LIKE THIS. Crazy photo at link!

Truck topples 47 power poles

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... ower-poles

SAMUT PRAKAN — A 22-wheel tractor-trailer struck a power pole in Bang Phli district, setting off a chain reaction that brought down 46 other poles, damaging 37 passing vehicles.

The incident occurred between kilometre markers 17 and 19 on Theparak Road in tambon Bang Pla on Saturday afternoon. Suthep Iam-samarng, 48, was attempting to back his truck onto the shoulder of the road to deliver steel coils to a company at kilometre marker 18. But the trailer knocked down a concrete utility pole, resulting in 46 others being pulled down.

The toppled poles included ten 21-metre high-voltage poles and 37 medium sized poles and covered a distance of two kilometres aong the road. They collapsed on 37 vehicles that were travelling in both the inbound and outbound lanes.

Fortunately, there was only one minor inury, to 28-year-old motorcyclist Suriyan Bandarn.

Some of the poles also fell on and damaged a pedestrian bridge. The accident caused traffic congestion for tens of kilometres.

Authorities cut off electricity in the area for safety and closed the affected section of the road. They expected to have the area cleared and power restored later Saturday night.

Authorities said Mr Suthep would be charged with reckless driving causing property damage and injury.

"Are Humans Really Part Of A Game For Robots? Scientists Claim The Universe Could Be FAKE"

Image

"Everything you know may just be part of a Matrix-style simulation, according to physicists who claim that we could all be part of a giant GAME.

A new theory has suggested that our entire lives and memories may not be real, instead being part of a computer programme played by advanced robots.

The so-called ‘simulation argument’ has been theorised for several years, with noted academics including Oxford University philosopher Nick Bostrom, suggesting that the plot of The Matrix could be closer to real life than we think

In the sci-fi classic, humans are bred in vats that are fed with simulations that make them believe they are living an ordinary life.

Scientists say that we could all be living in the future, and our life in 2015 is nothing more than a series of numbers in a computer programme.

It may sound like science fiction but scientists believe they may actually be able to PROVE that what you know isn’t what you know. ...."

First this - watch the video if you must - http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... raws-wrath
"An internet video clip of two young women in short red frocks performing sexy gyrations to music in a historical temple has drawn the wrath of netizens and the authorities "
Then this - http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... -surrender
"Two women who starred in a video of a racy dance staged inside Wat Chaiwatthanram in Ayutthaya reported to police on Saturday to face charges of violating ancient monuments legislation. "
which ends with ...
"A police officer escorts [two girls] to Wat Chaiwatthanaram for a re-enactment of the actions that outraged many people. "

...because being on video and then handing yourself in isn't enough, there had to be a re-enactment. Police say the police are searching for the policeman who held the re-enactment, and hope he turns himself in, and they will then take him for a re-enactment of the re-enactment ......

I'm never sure if the BP journalists mean to use words with multiple meanings, but "sensuous" after you watch the video, can only be the first meaning "Relating to or affecting the senses rather than the intellect" rather than the alternate meaning of "Attractive or gratifying physically, especially sexually" (OxfordDictionaries.com)

And some people laugh at my dislike of plastic chairs..............

An 81-year-old man was rushed to hospital in a plastic chair over the weekend in the outskirts of Bangkok after one of his testicles somehow got stuck in a hole in the seat.

Ruamkatanyu rescue volunteers rushed to a home in Pathumthani province to find the poor grandpa, only identified as "Samran,” crying in pain as his testicle began to swell.

The volunteers immediately sent him to Thanyaburi Hospital where the staff managed to cut the chair and free his private parts after 30 minutes.

Ruamkatanyu volunteers said this is a lesson to families with seniors, if you put your naked grandpa on a plastic chair, make sure to put a piece of fabric over the seat or make him wear pants to prevent accidents
