^ We can surmise 'til the cows come home. At the end of the day the culprit or culprits seemingly targeted people regardless of race. To my knowledge, as yet no person or group has claimed responsibility or stated reasons for the heinous attack.

I truly hope the b@st@rds responsible (and not scapegoats) are found and brought to "very significant" justice...

I don't think anyone has been brought to justice yet for the 2006 Bangkok bombings that killed three people. Several serving military personnel were arrested but never convicted.

Foreigner or Thai, the authorities better make damn sure they handle the investigation of this bombing with care and if they do catch the person/persons responsible, then all the evidence used to charge them in court must stand up to the highest scrutiny, not just the usual finger pointing.

The World is watching and will expect the evidence against any person/persons charged, to stand up to both Thai and International standards, so that we can be certain that the right people are prosecuted, not just some hapless scapegoat.

I suspect, with the army in charge, anyone found guilty beyond any doubt for this terrible crime, will face an appointment with a wooden pole, a Lotus Flower and a machine gun.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Who profits from the Bangkok bombing?

The Guy in the Yellow T-shirt — long shorts, unruly black hair, thick dark glasses — arrived at the Erawan shrine in a tuk-tuk. No one may have noticed him; just another nondescript backpacker in one of the busiest crossroads in Asia. He may have come to pay his respects to the golden statue of Brahma at the center of the shrine – and gaze on the Thai dancers and musicians in the background.

He sits on a bench. Then, slowly, he gets rid of a black backpack. He stands up, checks his mobile. Then he walks away. Stops. Actually seems to be calling someone on his mobile. Then he finally leaves Erawan, hitting the crowded intersection, clutching a white plastic bag, but always checking his phone.

He may – or may not – have known all his movements were being tracked by multiple CCTV cameras. A few minutes after he disappears from their sights, and allegedly takes a motorbike taxi, he enters, with a lethal bang, the wilderness of mirrors that is contemporary Thailand.

The news here just reported that the two new suspects the police were searching for surrendered. They said they were innocent, just tour group operators.

And the Beeb have been finding lots of shrapnel missed by the forensic people. Let's be honest here, The Thai Police haven't a clue and are out of their depth. Each day another head honcho contradicts something said earlier by a previous head honcho.

Yes, and then the biggest head honcho of all is on TV losing his cool and berating the media for asking questions! Disgusting.

Police believe 'at least 10' behind blast

The Erawan bombing culprits could number more than 10 people working as a "well-organised team", national police chief Somyot Pumpunmuang says.

Pol Gen Somyot said Thursday police have obtained evidence suggesting the bombing involved several people surveying the site and the route in advance, acquiring components to make the bomb, and planning an escape.

Police believed the deadly blast could have taken about a month to plan. "Based on discussions with international experts it appears this incident probably involved a big network of more than 10 perpetrators," Pol Gen Somyot said.

Oh so they do actually listen to people from other countries... just only when it suits them.

"Thailand seeks US help to find Bangkok bomber, raises reward"

"Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said he had received offers of assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and had assigned his deputy "to cooperate on borrowing equipment that includes facial-recognition technology."

Prayuth, however, ruled out working with U.S. investigators, insisting Thais can do the job. "It won't be necessary to cooperate on the investigation with U.S. officers," Prayuth told reporters. "We need to help ourselves."...."
