Thailand's Shrine Bombing - The Case For Turkey's Grey Wolves
The most likely perpetrators of the deadly Bangkok bombing last week were militant members of a right-wing Turkish organization infuriated by the Thai government’s forcible repatriation of Uighur refugees back to China. Anthony Davis, a veteran security analyst with IHS-Jane’s, made a persuasive case for the Grey Wolves on a panel at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand Monday evening.

He did not rule out the possibility that other foreign militant Muslim organizations could be responsible for August 18 bomb at the Erawan Shrine that killed 20 people and injured 126. He found it extremely unlikely, however, it was the work of Thai dissident political groups or even of the Muslim insurgents in southern Thailand who have waged a separatist war in three border provinces for the past decade.

Some of the strongest evidence in favor of the ultra-nationalist Grey Wolves was the fury throughout Turkey that followed the Thai repatriaton on July 9 of 109 Uighurs and the Grey Wolves’ visibility during the attacks on the Thai Embassy in Istanbul. A violent wing of the loosely organized pan-Turkic organization in recent years has taken up the cause of the Uighurs. The Uighurs are persecuted fellow Muslims in China’s western Xinjiang province, which Uighurs call “East Turkestan.”

It makes sense, but I am still wondering why no one has taken credit. Usually a terrorist group want's the attention (thus the extreme measures) but nothing here

No surprise there then ..... but WHAT A PLONKER!
I think they're wary of what someone else might find out, it's better from their point of view to be able to control the release of information in case it happens to have been instigated by any group that will cause them embarrassment.

Ah the old Thai "saving face" concept gets in the way again of the possibility of speeding up the investigation and actually finding out what happened.

The police Chief added, "while they are requesting equipment from other countries, they will not allow any representatives from other nations to interfere with their investigation."

So getting help from other nations is considered interference not assistance... again GET OVER YOURSELF....you are just making yourself looking more incompetent as each day goes by. Holding a press conference in Nana Plaza doesn't exactly help things either...

Bangkok: While Thai authorities confound the world giving conflicting accounts and theories on who was responsible for this week's deadly Bangkok bombing, Thailand's Prime Minister says they should watch the American crime series Blue Bloods for leads.

"Police investigators, especially the national police chiefs, should watch this series," Prayuth Chan-ocha told journalists.
"They will get tips, ideas and insights into their case."

Blue Bloods is a police drama starring Tom Selleck that follows the exploits of the Irish-American Reagan family of police officers in the New York Police Department.
I read this and thought it was a joke, I mean who would seriously believe the "Prime Minister" would say

"Though our officers may not be as capable as those in the series, we are good in our own league,"

I just can't take this guy seriously anymore, Tom Selleck in Blue Bloods !

On a more serious note, if they want to find out what actually happened, I believe there is only one man for the job, I have seen his work back in the 80's and its excellent.

Sometimes I want to scream! :banghead: They have fingerprints from a taxi, and DNA from a bank note. I really can't wait to see the direction all of that will take things.

Police have DNA, other results

Well DNA and fingerprints are only useful if you already have the suspect on file

^...and I would imagine fingerprints and DNA from several thousand people, unless the taxi driver washes down and shines up his door handles every night. I have no idea what kind of DNA would be on a paper banknote, and if fingerprints can even be lifted from paper like that. Anyway.....we shall see, I guess. :?

Chief investigator says Erawan shrine bombing was not the work of Thai perpetrators.

http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/chief- ... rpetrators
Deputy commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Jaktip Chaichinda said he could hardly believe it when he was informed certain Thai persons were behind the bombings.

“I could hardly credit it no matter what their background or beliefs! But facts are facts and a major meeting will have to be called to consider what action to take,” he said.

He said he was certain no Thai would be so cruel to carry out the deadly attack on their fellow countrymen.

Police in Bangkok said on Saturday they have arrested a Turkish man "likely involved" with a deadly bomb attack in Bangkok nearly two weeks ago that killed 20 people, including 12 foreigners, and left over 120 injured. It was Thailand's worst single mass-casualty attack.
Shortly after news of the arrest was made public on Saturday afternoon, the Thai Royal Police supplied a handout photo of Turkish suspect Adem Karadag.
Thai security forces raided an apartment in Nong Jok on the outskirts of eastern Bangkok ealrier in the day and discovered possible bomb-making materials, a police spokesman said.
