200 Cambodian workers rounded up in Hua Hin

Post by buksida »

Local officials and defence volunteers raided the construction site of a large condominium in Hua Hin district on Tuesday night and rounded up 207 Cambodian migrant workers.

The raid, led by Hua Hin district chief Suthipong Klai-udom, followed a tip off that a large number of foreign workers had been hired for the condominium project in Soi Hua Hin 102 at Ban Hua Na in Hua Hin Municipality.

A total of 207 Cambodians, including some children aged below 15, were rounded up. Of these, 141 did not have work permits or other identification documents, while the rest carried expired work permits.

All were taken to Hua Hin police station and charged with illegal entry and will be deported.

The district chief said their employers would be charged with providing shelter for illegal migrants.

at least the Cambodians have a lot experience building condos. The Burmese and Cambodians built just about everything in HH.
