River tunnel under the Chao Phraya nears completion

Have not heard about this before, but it must have been underway for some time:

Work on Thailand's first rail tunnel under the Chao Phraya River is expected to finish by Dec 5 this year and will connect with the Sanam Chai station train to be developed into a "palace hall" on the extended Blue Line rail route.

The Construction chaos outside of Hua Lamphong station has been going on for around 4 years to the best of my knowledge.
The interesting thing is that the Systems Contracts have already been delayed for a further 6 months as I understand it....................

Here's an article from 2012 detailing who is building the tunnels and with what. It seems there will be two Blue Line tunnels and the second has already started as well. Pete

I wonder how long after this tunnel opens, stalls start to appear, selling all sorts of junk to those passing by in the trains?

I give it a week.
