UK convicted child abuser flees to Thailand

Post by caller »

Mods, wasn't sure where to put this, please move as appropriate.

Being asked to report any sightings of this guy, so if it's okay, will post the news report here. No doubt he'll be up to the same tricks in Thailand.

Yes, yes, I know it's a very long shot, but you never know.

A RIDING instructor is on the run in Thailand from a six-year prison sentence for sexually attacking children during lessons.

Having been released on bail following his arrest, Damien Midgley fled abroad after he was charged with 11 offences of abusing four children under 13. Some of them had been on their first riding lesson with him.

A judge has issued a warrant for his arrest.

The schools should be made aware of him, no background checks are usually made here (in my experience) and it's all too easy to find yourself in a classroom, unfortunately.
When nosy expats ask how can i live here without working, i reply, 'well, while you worked hard for 50 years, i worked smart for 5 years' :D

Do any of the local schools offer riding lessons?

When we had a riding stables back in the 90`s I would always get one of our stable girls to set up any kids onto their ponies so there was no way I could ever be accused of any wrong doing

Probably not, but a person like this won't stick to his field of expertise, he would tell lie after lie to get any kind of job working close to children

There are riding schools in Thailand. There's two in Korat that I know of. One run by the army and the other run by a Canadian lady and her Thai husband on 80 rai to the west of the city. But she mainly employs ex-racing jockeys and they mainly seem Burmese. There are others around Bangkok.
