Hi

Post by mikeyboy »

Just joined the forum. Been to HH twice but with my then wife. Looking to return possibly April time and wonder if it is still safe for a lone traveller as havent been for 2 yrs...felt fine then though!
Will probably be staying in centre, poss Hilton, where are good bars for a friendly 40 yr old not too bad looking English guy who might want a bit of company from time to time.
Also, had an interesting :D massage at a little place near Caddyshack bar last time I was there. Anyone know if its still there? Also is J.R.s massage place still there? awesome oil massage!!

Cheers,

Mike

Welcome to HHAD! If you are thinking of arriving between 11th and 16th April you had better book now. That period is Songkran (Thai New Year) and Hua Hin will be packed. Still safe in Hua Hin - just take normal precautions.

Thanks for that, wondered why the prices were higher...had totally forgotten about new year! Remember being in Bangkok early may a few years ago and there were still remnants of the celebrations.
Lets hope it goes off more incident free than the Ferang new year in Bangkok eh

High season ends on 31st April. You'll get much better room rates after that date. Do you really need a 5-star hotel? You can get much cheaper accommodation with good facilities. Check out some on this site and/or PM me if you want more information.

There is a possibility that it might end on the 30th April this year :?

OK so I'm a plonker! No excuse but I have a 2007 calender from a company in Bangkok which shows that every month has 31 days this year. It is going to be a loooooooooooong year!
