There's not much profit in that.Seriously though and back to thread, I'm surprised MIB do not issue a friendly warning with a Thai smile when they exit the beach not properly clothed
"Nudity" on the streets of Hua Hin
Thanks for the Dress Atire Info:
Hi Dawn & Winkie..
Thanks for the info on dress.. I will keep it in mind. Yes, I have been told about the monks and passing items to them. My uncle comes in Hua Hin every year for a few months, and my cousin (she) has visited, they have given a lot of info but I wanted to talk/chat with a few others as well.. you can't have too much of the right info... This is my first trip anywhere other than Mexico for a friends 30th birthday.. I can't wait...
Regards
Jodley

This goes to the young, blonde farang woman walking across the main crossroads on Petchkasem Road between the Police Station & Satukarn Square at about 12:30pm today. The one wearing only a pink striped bikini & a skimpy white top, walking with her boyfriend.
On the offchance that you care enough about the town you're in to do any research at all, and you stumble across this, let me give you a message:
You may think that you looked gorgeous & hot sauntering around in next to nothing, but my friend & I were in a car that stopped to let you cross. Next to us were a middle aged Thai couple on a motorbike. We were all laughing at you! And the conversation between us (our windows were down) went like this: "Pooying farang ting-tong" (crazy farang woman) "Ching Ching" (sure/true) "Chawp, mai?" (You like?) "Mai chawp!" (No, we don't like it) That was 2 Thais and 2 farangs who live here. My friend & I talked about you for a little longer than that & you don't want to know what we said.
Please, please, please, save your states of undress for the beach! When you leave the beach cover up

Dawn,
Agree with you completely--its disgusting. Has anybody else spotted the one we have in Soi 6 / Bo Fai? Young farang woman, pushing a baby in a stroller, small TIGHT shorts and a bikini top. There is a lot of construction crews working around here, plus Thai housing.
IF YOU GET ATTACKED YOUNG LADY---DO NOT CALL ME FOR HELP!
Should I stop and tell her?--probably get abused for my trouble!
Cheers

Perhaps there should be a flyer with all the relevent dress info on which we could hand out to half naked half brained twatty ferrang we see parading their fat beer guts, sagging t**s and cellulite ridden thighs around town. They belong in the 'costa del boy' not here... and as for 'wife beater vests' you know those sleeveless affairs with 'chang' written on and the like....ugh! Ah I feel so much better better now, Its a form of therapy you know...
Post script - Oops just re read the entire thread and noticed that this has already been mentioned as an idea! Oh well a reitaration won't go a miss.

Education is a very tricky area. There has been a lot of press coverage over here of Kate Moss and Pete Doherty and the "did they get married in Phuket?" story. This was run in yesterday's News of the World, accompanied by a large photo of Moss topless on a beach. There was no indication of whether this was an archive photo or one from last week, but it certainly gave the impression it was taken last week in Phuket. Thus the paper is telling people that it is acceptable to sunbathe topless in Thailand.
It also said that she has sent Doherty back home because of the temptation of locally available drugs....ie if you want to come to a place where you can get stoned/high, get your tits out and hang out with celebs, Thailand is for you.

Good suggestion by Richard and perfect response by BB. It's the reason why tourist resorts put up with this the world over. It's no more acceptable to shit in the street in The Balearics than in Hua Hin and I remember my grandmother going to the beach for only the second (and last) time in her life during the 1980's on an island only 50 miles across. She entered the sea fully clothed, Thai style, when tourists there were already virtually naked. It's coming folks, get used to it.Big Boy wrote:richard wrote:There's not much profit in that.Seriously though and back to thread, I'm surprised MIB do not issue a friendly warning with a Thai smile when they exit the beach not properly clothed
I don't see a problem with it.
I thought people in red hot climates wandering around a beach resort, were meant to wear skimpy beach clothes !?
I think we take a different attitude to it as we live here rather than holiday here.
If they're all flabby then it makes me feel better, if they have toned bodies then I feel I should be down the gym a bit more often.
Can't see why anyone would let ib bother them really.

I agree with much of what has been written concerning travel agents, tour operators and hotels.
When I first started travelling to African & Asian countries some twenty five years ago there used to be some fairly dire warnings from tour operators and travel agents about what could happen to you if you did not conform to local dress standards and observe and respect local culture and its customs and practices.
With the huge increase in long haul travel these warnings no longer seem to be given and, even if they are given, are rarely if ever observed and respected by some visitors.
IMHO, it will only be after the authorities start enforcing their traditional standards that this and many of the other problems that get mentioned on this forum may disappear.
The authorities might be pleasantly surprised at the reaction of many foreign visitors if they start enforcing traditional Thai standards.
I believe that one of the objectives of the changes in visa regulations last year was the removal of some of the undesirables in a non-confrontational way – the impact of those changes should now be starting to take effect, it will be interesting to see if anything does actually change.
