This post may be looked at as advertising and get moved or deleted. Not sure, but there have been several posts asking about schools here and I thought a response from me might be helpful. (I am Head of Dept for the Stamford IELP program.)
First the bad news. There isn't such a high school here. . .yet.
Then the good news. This has been something proposed at Stamford International University as an excellent way for the University to expand, both for the high school services it might provide in this area as well as the obvious advantage of serving as a feeder program for Stamford's regular International BA degree programs. (This may be a while in the planning and implementation so I am not so sure that the news is all that good!)
However, Stamford currently offers an Intensive English Language Program which has drawn an increasing number of non-traditional students. It is an intensive ( 24 hours a week, M to TH, 8:30-3:30) non-credit, pre-college program with the focus on learning the English language but with an eye toward preparation for University studies.
The last few semesters we registered several high school students from Taiwan, Thailand and China. In several of these cases, it was a matter of being the only alternative for families who had to relocate here and had no other options for a non-Thai senior high schol student.
In additon, we have drawn an increasing number of local Thai women who have farang husbands and who just want to improve their English.
Our program might not be appropriate for an native speaker of English.
Please IM me with any questions or post here.

No problem with us Chas, anything that improves education standards in any form we approve of. Its the freeloaders that will get moved or deleted.Chas wrote:This post may be looked at as advertising and get moved or deleted.
Thanks Lev
Thanks Lev, I was going to add that I don't profit from this at all. ( My salary won't go up one satang whether we have 20 or 200 students.)
I also forgot to add that our next semester begins February 19th.
I plan to strongly pursue this initiative with the new administration because I believe it is important for Hua Hin.

We live in Bangkok Mnoday to Friday, and Cha Am weekends and holidays.
Bangkok is not necesserily a critical location for my work, but it certainly is my the schooling of my 2 (although a bit young for High School at present.
If a real International School (even if only at High Schol level) were to exist in Hua Hin, I think this would be welcomed by many.

Hey Chas,
I heard Stamford had already been repainted to look like a grade school
white on the first floor and yellow on 2nd blue on the third or something like that.
I think its a great idea. Especially if its put into motion by the right people.
Good luck

Big Al, the new paint job is disgusting. It was the annual spruce-up for the princess and I don't know who is responsible. ( It cost them a LOT of money though) Luckily they missed our offices and the classrooms themselves. But someone's idea of using the school colors for the hallways was a real mistake. The result kinda hits you in the face as you walk out.
Understudy, I keep wondering who you are and if I know you.
As for our programs, I already have on my desk two applications from women in Hua Hin who have farang husbands and who will enter our regular IELP program in February. This pleases me because judging from those who have studied with us to date, they make really excellent students!
I am still pushing the International High School initiative and will keep you all posted.

Secondary School in Hua Hin
Hello Chas,
I am currently in the planning stage of relocating my family from the UK to Hua Hin and am interested in secondary school access for my son who has just turned 11 and due to start in September 07.
Is there any news on Stamford's plans?
Would you know of any other options available at other schools? (Sorry, a bit cheeky of me)
I am planning an information gathering trip at the start of March to try and get a clearer picture so any info is gratefully received.
Thanks, Alistair.

Aljo,
I think you're going to be disappointed with what's on offer in the Hua Hin area. I've recently put my retirement on hold because there is no suitable secondary school access available.
However, if you do find something, please let me know.

There appears to be enough parents out there wanting the same thing. If we all got together I would think there would be enough of us to fill a classroom. If this is the case maybe there is a teacher who is willing to teach an international or English curriculum. Just a thought.
