English Language Boooks

Is there anywhere in Hua Hin that sells books (leisure reading) in English?? Love to read on the beach, but don't want to pack a lot of books.

The minmarket on the left hand side of Damnoernkasem Road, going away from the beach, has a good selection. There's also a little place on the corner of the same road and Naresdamri Road, on the south side, that has a good pick of English newspapers and books. Prices tend to be quite high though compared to Blighty.

Have fun.

The second place that Jim mentioned, which is on the corner opposite the Sofitel, has the best selection of English books in town, both fiction and non-fiction. There are two other shops on the roads around the day market that stock a fair selection as well, one on Petchkasem and the other is opposite the south side, (I’m not sure of the road name).
Sometimes you can find second hand books for sale at market stores, at the Grand Plaza market and in the street market on the lane behind the City Beach hotel; they are not always there, but you can strike it lucky sometimes.

Think I also noticed an Asia Books shop in that new complex as you head down to the beach, on the left hand side almost opposite Burger King.

Yes, the HHDRC shop does sell books (Thanks Big Boy) and for fiction paperbacks we are the cheapest in town (nothing over 50 baht). Another good secondhand place is in the row of stalls alongside the Shopping Mall (opposite Satukarn Square). It's run by a Thai lady & has a good selection at a reasonabl price (far cheaper than the "rip off" merchants near the night market) You'll know you've got the right place as there's a sign in her window telling you not to ask for discount as she has a husband to support!

Can I ask a favour though? When you've finished reading your books (wherever you get them from) can you donate them to our charity shop so that we can resell them for the dogs? Thanks

Off topic - Love your new avatar, Big Boy! Surprised your namesake has taken the place of the Plymouth Crest, though!! :thumb:
