Just joined this forum.
I must say I am very impressed with the quality and amount of information provided.
I'm a retired, bored divorcee writing from miserable, freezing cold and foggy England, near London.
Been thinking for some time about spending whatever time I have left in sunnier climes, then I came across Hua Hin and thought that it could fit the bill, so, I will be planning a trip in the next few months to see what you all like so much.

Re: Hi all
Welcome to the forum Bazzank. As you seem to have already found, there's a lot of useful information to help those considering a move to warmer climes. If you have the time then visit for a few months to spend time looking at the good and the bad - there's a lot of expats living in Hua Hin and the surrounding area so it can't be that bad.
I come from the London/Kent border area and heading there for xmas next week, so I'll get ready for the change in weather and hopefully avoid the rail and airport baggage handler strikes!!

Re: Hi all
Welcome to the forum, always good to have new members. If you are thinking of moving here long term you will find plenty of information here. I think that most would recommend that to start with you rent a place so that you can get a feel for the place. It also offers the opportunity to try a few places out to see what you may prefer. Hua Hin is not the most lively but certainly not the cheapest. It would also be advisable to check out the various posts regarding visa requirements, medical care etc if you are looking at moving here. Once you are here look up a few of the places mentioned in the forum and you will no doubt meet people of a similar mind who will probably be more than happy to offer advice and tell you the good, the bad and the ugly aspects of living in Thailand.
Re: Hi all
You might want to stay where you are - Donald Trump will be President January 20th and China just told him to stay away from the South China Sea. He won't and things could go nuclear quickly and Hua Hin is downwind for the fallout.

Re: Hi all
Thanks for the responses. When I'm ready I will look forward to asking for your advice.
I don't think anywhere is safe nowadays, especially not Europe with Russia flexing its muscles.
Anyway, I'd rather be in the sun and if I have to get ripped off, at least it will be done with a smile on their faces!
