Well. the 5th photo has surprised me. I thought they were going from the fishing pier, but that looks like the new facility at Khao Takiab.

Maybe it had something to do with the wind today which was pretty strong when I was on the beach mid morning?
If they came in to the south side of Monkey mountain, it would have been sheltered by the "mountain".
Happened to me years ago when out on a traditional fishing boat and a squall blew up. The crew wouldn't take us back to HH by the pier but went to Khao Takieb instead where this boat is docking.

Well I get more confused. Still have not seen any official site about where the thing is going to leave or arrive at HH, prices or where to book. I have used similar ferries between Singapore and Batam (Indonesia) many times and had lots of problems including breakdowns, delays and overloading and realy never felt safe. I think I would rather go by road and put up extra hours on the journey.

Gossip........I have heard it was unable to dock today, so all passengers had to be returned to Pats...a waste of 5 hours!

Mods...I understand that I don't have a reliable source for this, so feel free to delete if it breaks the rules.

Literally just seen a TV news report about this. It couldn't dock at the fishing pier as the sea was too rough! It went to the shelter of Takiap instead. I think there are other issues about the pier as well.

Shallow draft, high superstructure catching the wind, and probably built out of aluminium.

I seem to remember that it was pointed out on this forum some time ago that the big drawback of a project like this was that at the time of year when there would be the most demand, the weather is the least suitable.

Stability at speed is one of the reasons cats are widely used as ferries. Cats also roll slower at slow speeds. Still, crossing a gangplank at the HH pier when wind and waves are kinda sporty - well, some passengers are going to want to hold on tight.
