What's your excuse for cricket???
Expatsally, there's nothing wrong with cricket, it's been played since the 16th century; there should be a result soon I imagine!

Ooops! Have you never heard the expression "those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". I'll agree with you vis a vis the cricket, but I can't think of one culinary contribution from the US - unless you count McDonalds??? :neener:

The chip originated in Belgium.

But of course expatsally was referring to what we English call crisps, with the chip being an abbreviation of chipped potatoes, otherwise known as french fries in the US and other places for some bixarre reason!

My goodness, your London team starts a regular schedule next year. The money boys see the draw from 'soccer' to american football....maybe?

UBC will have the Super Bowl and it's a long, drawn out event. Wake up at about 0800 and tune in and you'll see most or all of it, including the 1 hour halftime show where perhaps Janet Jackson will drop her drawers this year instead of her bra?

If you want to watch good American football, watch the two games this coming weekend where four teams will KILL to get to the Superbowl. You'll see real football then, not at the superbowl. Pete

How about gooey butter cake? thats from the US is it not, it is a truly a culinary delight, or perhaps BBQ porksteaks?

Most superbowl parties include things boiled and chilled shrimp, buffalo wings, deviled eggs, lots of good stuff. How about some New York cheesecake?

For those in country and interested. Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints for the NFC champsionship on UBC Supersport channel at 0300 this coming Monday morning. I think channel 32. Followed be the AFC Championship at 0630 on ESPN channel 35, the Indianapolis Colts vs the New England Patriots.

As mentioned above, these two games will be the best American football of the year. Pete

Pete, remind us again, which American sport are we talking about here; is it rugby in a space-suit,rounders, or a bar-fight in an ice rink,or that other one you have with very tall people?

Ha, ha. Blame the Canadians for ice hockey, they invented it, or was it the Russians or Finns?

They were both good games today but I've been up since 0230 and started on the beer with some friends at 0400. So, depending upon your point of view, my day is ruined or just great. :D Pete

Pete, apologies for making fun of your sports, I made the last post after having spent six hours in a bar drinking with two Finnish girls.
They drink like Russian sailors!

Are you sure they weren't Russian sailors dressed up like Finnish girls? What did they look like inthe morning?

Ask them who invented ice hockey. NO GOOGLES PLEASE. Forums are meant to disperse retained knowledge. :D Pete

Pete, I’ll ask them about ice hockey next time I see them; I was threatened with another night out on Wednesday.
If they were Russian sailors, I’m signing up for the Merchant Marine!

Almost worth flying over for that--maybe next year.

So are you going to have a American football pool set up to make the game more interesting and maybe win a few bhat?
