So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.
32 Band members are coming to Thailand for there annual world tour! They usually play in Singapore, Hongkong,BKK and Pataya/Phuket, but as they know me they are giving HH a try. I have arranged a free mini concert on Sat 27 th May 4-5 pm and Sunday 28th May 1-3.30 at Market Village.
The theme of the concert is " Music for the King" and will include some of his music alongside traditional Brass band favourates and film themes.
I thought Brassed Off was a wonderful film and brass band music can be very rousing, give the topic a nudge nearer the date and I will try to stop by.
There was also a good documentary on BBC at the end of last year about the last deep coal mine at Kellingley Colliery before it closed that's worth a watch.
'If you didn't have a wasted youth you wasted your youth'
It's a bit of a shame it's so low season and many people return to their homelands. Still I think it will be quite dramatic!
Their previous tours have gone down a storm as there is nothing quite like it in Asia. I can't wait to see how the Thais react to it.
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!
Wow! That looks really interesting. Unfortunately not going to drive all the way down to HH from Bangkok just for that. Used to be in the school brass band back in the day - brings back fond memories..
You could call me a "Brass Band Fanatic" and will definitely be there. I have copied OP text for my wife to inform her circle of ladies -- with OP permission.
"Fanatic" started learning trumpet age 11 years at school, 25 years as RAF Voluntary Bandsman, 13 years with the Riyadh Concert Orchestra.
Unfortunately my Besson "Big Bell" Eb Tuba has not been played for the last 8 years, since arriving here.
Thinking of selling it - unless there may be any like minded amateur musicians here willing to get together.

A strange observation I've made, not only for this event, but many others at Market Village. They quite happily post notices all over town for drivers to read whilst they should be watching the road (me included ), but I couldn't find one notice in Market Village yesterday. All of those posts inside the car park are ideal to be used as advertising hoardings.
