For those not in-country, score is 1 nil Thailand after the first half. Singapore won game #1, 2-1. The scoring is aggragate betweeen the two games.

Thailand had massive possession in the first half and many shots on goal, but failed except with one. Singapore looks a bit listless.

About at minute 58 at the moment. Stay tuned. Pete

Singapore has tied it 1-1 in minute 80 due to a lethargic and tired looking Thai defense. Possession is still in favor of Thailand but......in the zone so many times and they do 1 yard passes instead of shooting the bloody ball. They look like ballerinas instead of football players. UGGGH. Pete :(

Singapore has won, 1-1 on aggregate. The game was 96.5 minutes. After Singapore scored in minute 80, Thailand gave up, simply gave up.

So, Singapore wins the ASEAN Cup for this year. Unfortunate as the morale of the country here, especially against Singapore at the moment, could have used a victory.

To quote my better half "..this is why I never watch Thai football, it happens all the time..." (meaning performance at critical times).

:( :( :( Pete

One of the things about this game was that in the first leg, Singapore were awarded a dubious penalty near the end of the game. The Thai team actually walked off the pitch for 15 mins in protest. Singapore scored and won that leg 2-1.
The Singaporean supporters were so concerned about violence towards them in Bangkok that I heard only about 100 of their alloted 2,000 odd tickets were sold.
Certainly dosn't seem much love lost between the two countries at the moment.

You're right about the penalty LOMU. I've watched it now about 10 times on replay and the Sing player fell backwards, unaided by anyone.

Such is life I guess.

Thaksin must be sitting in Beijing at the moment in front of his TV, smiling that things are now more difficult for his successors to build morale here. I do indeed feel badly right now.

If Chicago loses the Superbowl, which starts in exactly 9 hours and 38 minutes, I'll feel even worse. Pete
