Crawfords showing them all. Saw England tonight beating Scotland. Showing some form with the mighty Wilkinson and Robinson back but still some serious flaws to work on. Oh hum work to do....
Another game where Wales played most of the rugby but fail to turn pressure into points again!! Not helped by an appalling referreeing decision when Czekaj was tackled short of the line without the ball. Penalty try? It was a crucial stage of the game at 9-12 about half way through the second half. Our midfield didn't have much bite - S. Jones must tale some blame for this - and we didn't quite have the pace on the wings (Luscombe = converted centre) to make the most of our wide play.
Cracking game though - skill, physicality & intensity levels significantly higher than the England -Scotland game yesterday. Nothing was left in the changing room, as they say.
A geographical/history question here. The Six nations are Scotland, Wales, Ireland, England, France and Italy...right?
How did Italy make that group and not countries closer to the majority, such as Holland, Belgium and Germany? They do play international Rugby, don't they? Pete
Simple one Pete. They threatened to shoot everyone in the RFU if they weren't invited.
Either that or they were the next best. It was actually quite close between Italy and Romania as to which was the 6th best nation in Europe, but Italy got the nod.
Ok, I start to understand more, thanks Jim. What this means is that the 6 Nations championship is not constant and changes each year based upon regular season records...right? Pete
nope, it's pretty much fixed. Italy's inclusion is the only change in the last 1,000 years. Nowadays it will all depend on TV - will it enhance advertising if anyone joins the tournament? The answer is probably not, though there is an argument for Argentina joining.
Ok, all clear now. Thinking again, a match between the Six Nations champ and the Tri Nation champ would be something. Like a World Cup final or the Superbowl. Pete
