First weeks in HH - car rental vs lease

Hi
Moving soon, wondered what people found the best as will need to get around especially in the first 2/3 weeks getting things - would it work out better to rent by the day as required or (as I supect) longer term rental for a month or two until we find our feet.
Also any recommendations of good but not the most expensive places to rent from
