Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
moater, yes, I tried the one opposite the school, it's OK, but the one at soi 77 was much better.
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
There has been good Khao Soi at MV in the basement level food court for the last 6 months, 55 baht gets you a large bowl. Tamarind market in Takiab has a vendor selling smaller bowls of Khao Soi on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday evening for 45 Baht.
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
I tried the khao soi in MV basement back when it opened. In my opinion it was absolutely disgusting. I had to go find something else to eat. Perhaps I happened to visit on a particularly bad day, but there's no way I'm trying it again.
Thanks for the takiab tip, I'll give it a try.

moater: Khao Soi at basement MV: First time it was OK. Recently I tried again, noodles were overcooked. Never again.

There's nice but expensive (60b) khao soi in the Bluport mall food court on floor G. Long term quality remains to be seen.

It's Blueport. Don't expect 40 Bhat dishes. And Kao Soi chicken only or also porc ?
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
Just moved here from Uttaradit. It costs 35 baht there and always good. I will try to find a few places to eat it and report back. If you do not know what it should taste like, don't advise people. I have been looking for quality som tham since movinhg here, and it all tastes terrible. Strange as i actually want Som Tham Thai

The best Khao Soi in town.Takiap wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2014 9:58 am There's also a small Thai restaurant across the road from the palace that does Northern Thai dishes. The owners are from the North and serve great tasting food at regular Thai street level prices. The place is located just next door to car repair place, on the left heading out of town. Only open during the day, and best to go for lunch either a bit early or a bit late because a lot of the palace staff eat there during their lunch break. The owners are very nice people, and the husband who speaks very good English likes nothing more than to sit down and talk about Jazz and the like.
Their norther sausage and their chicken and potato curry are awesome.
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
It sounds worth a visit, but it's a bit of a way for me, and I'd rather not do the drive if I'm not sure of finding and identifying the place. Does it have a name? In English? Soi number? Is it on the main road?
All guidance appreciated.

Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
Small restaurant, uncomfortable and you have to bring your beer with you.
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
Loft Indy in Khao Tao.
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
Across from the Temple. If you're coming from the 7-11 it's before Baan Tao on the right. Nice place, black metal frame and easy to see sign. All their food is good.
Re: Khao Soi in Hua Hin?
That sounds like S. Ken's Bistro. Next to the right turn which leads to Saai Noi beach. But...
Oops! I've now done the sensible thing and googled it. Not Ken's. Before Ken's and the temple. I have no understanding of how I've missed it, and I'm very grateful, RCer, for your posts. And a lovely photo of khao soi on their FB page. I'll certainly be eating there within the next few days. I hope they're open for lunch.

Small maybe, but no smaller than many other Thai side of the road type places.europtimiste wrote: ↑Mon Mar 05, 2018 3:44 pm Small restaurant, uncomfortable and you have to bring your beer with you.
Uncomfortable - absolutely not unless they were warned about you and made you site on the ground in their back yard. They have regular tables and chair which are no better or no worse than most places in and around town.
Have to take your own beer - That is news to me because I've always managed to order a beer there but admittedly, I have not been in a while.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
