(dpa) - Toxic gas given off by decayed fish piled up in a trawler's bilge killed five fishermen and put another two in hospital, media reports said Tuesday.
The "Uandam" fishing trawler was towed ashore Tuesday to Satun port, 800 kilometres south of Bangkok, with five fishermen dead below and only two survivors from a bad case of rotten fish fumes, reported the Thai News Agency (TNA).
The survivors, who were hospitalised, said two of the crew succumbed to toxic gas as they tried to clean out the bilge and then three more followed who tried to rescue their companions.
Now thats what I call a bad day! Steve.
