Hi Stormy,

Being as far as I know Hua Hin's only resident Geologist. There isn't anything too remarkable in the area for a Geologist. There are the upper Paleozoic granitic mountains to the West of town. Other areas have the usual marine ,non-marine sequence. There are some interesting limestone outcrops further south especially at Pracub Khiri Khan (The city) at Ao Manao.

Also at Khao Sam Roi Yawt South of Hua Hin there are some caves. Jim who used to have the coconuts bar used to organize a trip to a cave West of town, I think he is still around. Certainly not a typical tourist cave. When I went other than Jim was the only one wearing long pants , carrying an extra flashlight and water. Some very interesting cave formations there, flowstones and the like.

There is also the Palu -U waterfall but doesn't really qualify as a Geologic site. There is some gem markets in Kanchanaburi a couple hours from town. Also some interesting shells on the beach especially the Turitella's the long spiral ones , primitive form been around for millions of years.

Hope that helps,

LL
