BREAKING NEWS: The Swiss man pleaded guilty to one count and faces 15 years in prision. Court is in recess, no news as to when a sentence will be handed down. Pete

His Majesty's august person is in no way soiled by doings of some deranged falang.

At the end of the day this was not a verbal attack on HRH it was a physical act of defacing the Kings image which to some may not be such a big deal but to others is,

This would have been met with criminal charges in many countries regardless of what or who's image was defaced.

This man went out on a premeditated & prepared mission to vandalise and deface images of the countries Monarch.

There are conflicting stories now. My BBK Post news alert said what I said above. BBC has posted that he pled quilty to all 5 counts and faces max of 75 years and minimum of 7.5. Which is true, I don't know.

What I didn't know until now is that he has been a 10 year resident of Thailand. So, he probably has a Thai family who will never see him again once he is blacklisted. He's probably ruined more lives than just his own. Pete

I think so too. What prison will they put him in? Unless a private room on a mountain top, he'll be done in by the Thai inmates as soon as they find out why he's there, and they'll find out quick enough.

I don't know if Thailand has a treaty to allow farangs to serve their time in their home country? In this case, good if they did. Pete

If he has put in a few months in the monkey house just throw him out and never let him back. He's no doubt had the piss and wind knocked out of him by now.

Bet he regrets his action's, not the sort of thing to be proud of, 1 year for some spray paint.

Did he purchase the paint while drunk or did he take it out with him?

Pete, they don't have that in Thailand, if you end up in the monkey house you stay there; if you survive you can write a book about it like everybody else.

He was sentenced for 10 years according to BBC, tho it's possible that he might receive a royal pardon.

Considering he lived here for 10 years, I really don't understand how he could be so stupid >_<

Not quite right Steve - many such countries have such an agreement with Thailand, including, I believe, the US. The UK however, does not and so British guests of Thailand's prisons have to serve out their time in Thailand. This was discussed in a really good BBC documentary last year which went into Bang Kwan.

The first film crew that were ever let into there. I'm sure you've all seen it. Never rely on some pardon/parole. Never. Never.

Apologies if I was wrong there, I knew the UK had no agreement and I assumed it was the same with all western nations. I remember the documentary being interesting, but I obviously didnâ€™t recall all the details correctly.
