Yes, this is just about perfect for me. I need to keep my slippers on, but outside of that, the weather is spot on.

Below is an extract from this morning's weather map. I post it to show the high pressure level of 1048 in the bands coming down from China. I distinctly remember Nereus saying last year around January-February, "Wow, we seldom see high pressure as high as 1050...." So, here we are only in early November seeing such high pressure in Southern China.

I guess if it keeps up we can expect very sunny and crisp days, with cold nights until around March. Pete

At the moment, my weather map is showing that the pressure at Cha Am is 1012 hPa, so still a long way to go to reach the figures you quote Pete.

No, the 1050 was never directly here in Thailand last year and won't be this year, just a pattern in Southern China that ultimately affects the weather and temperatures here.

The high pressure area in China is exactly the cause of cold North East airflow into Thailand.

Frozen dew blankets Doi Inthanon mountain for second day

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/ ... s/30357808

Frozen dew formed again for the second day in a row atop Doi Inthanon mountain in Chiang Mai on Saturday morning when the lowest temperature was recorded at 1 degree Celsius.

Wasan Chanthep, assistant chief of Doi Thanon National Park, said grass and the lower branches of trees were covered with a thin layer of ice.

He said the temperature at the top of the mountain was recorded at 1C while the mercury at the Kiew Mae Pan viewpoint, where tourists flocked to enjoy a sea of mist, was 5C. The Doi Inthanon park office halfway up the mountain saw the lowest temperature of 10C.

Wasan said the weather was clear so tourist could see the sea of mist clearly from the cliff at the viewpoint and the first sunlight lit up the mist beautifully for early-bird tourists.

Wasan said 2,321 tourists visited the park on Friday and the number was expected to be much higher on Saturday.

I’m hearing that People In Bangsaphan are getting out the sand bags again. Some big rains are being forecast from Sunday.
Can our resident experts confirm this?

If you mean "Bangsaphan" - no, the big storm predicted looks like it will make landfall in Surat and Nakhon Si Thammarat on Tuesday.

We've been using this to track it: https://www.windy.com/?10.791,100.278,9

It depends entirely on the developing low pressure area off the coast of Vietnam. It is very possible it will build up intensity as it moves further West and gets mixed up with some moist southerly air flow.

Because compared to the summer, it is cool. I've been wearing a pullover some evenings.
