Hi!
Ok, everyone that lives in Hua Hin knows about Sao paolo's exeedingly bad reputation.
But doesn't the hospital know about this, and why aren't they upgrading the staff or services?
I've actually been there 4 times: 2 of which i have nothing to say ( good treatment and services ), 1 time i had to be rushed to Bumrungrad ( i love that one ) cause they screwed up in the emergency room, and the last time which was in nov 2004, i had more air in my IV line than IV fluids...scarry, but i made i through. All of which were for food poisoning.
Aren't there any standards in Thailand that inspect hospitals...if too many tourists die of mistreatments, people won't be comming back here...and to tell you the truth, i'm kinda scared of getting ill now...3 hours to Bangkok is a long way if treatment is rapidly needed.
So my question is: Is there any decent hospital in Hua Hin, or the best bet is to pack an IV at home and have some taxi phone numbers in the speed dial?
Take care,

Question about Sao Paolo hospital
Thanks for the info; I was contemplating having my annual medical check-up at this medical facility. The 'special price offers' for medical packages are now understood fully. I will now revert to my normal medical check-up at the Bumrungrad in Bangkok.
This reminds me of some thoughts I've had about the reports of the quality of this hospital. As much time as HRM The King spends in Hua Hin and given his age, I would think this hospital would have a crack team of specialists and surgeons on hand or on immediate call. I doubt that the Royal Family has a full team of physicians in residence at the HH Palace. Even by helicopter or break neck speed car convoy back to Bangkok, they are still wasting precious minutes/hours. I would think the HH hospital would be one of the best equipped/staffed in the country due to this possibility. Pete
I've been in San Paulo twice and havn't got a bad word to say about them - I do realise that many others have horror stories though.
I don't think there's a better hospital in HH. Any serious cases, particularly head injuries, are taken to Petchaburi.
For minor cuts and scrapes, The International Polyclinic on Petchkasem Road has a pretty good reputation.
The Red Cross opposite the TOT office is also good for minor injuries and dead cheap.

I went to San Paulo once for the enevatable motorbike accident and found it a very painful and worrying experiance, in the end I sorted it out myself.
I have informed my girlfriend and my friends that if anything bad happens to me and I am unable to communicate that I am on no account to be taken to San Paulo hospital. I would rather take my chances at Burger King!!!

I have to agree that Sao Paulo and the Hua Hin Polyclinic are only capable of dealing with accidents or an ailment that is obvious.
Any sort of diagnosis then you may aswell ask the guard outside.
I have just had an anxious last 3 weeks worrying over my health. The polyclinic diagnosed me with liver failure. After a function test and a supposed hepatitis B and C test conducted in Petchaburi.
I actually have Hepatitis A diagnosed yesterday at Bumrungrad which is fully treatable and I'm recovering everyday.
So why wasn't I tested for it in Hua Hin and the Hepatitis C test that I paid for wasn't completed according to the doctor in Bumrungrad. I am sure these local doctors guess if they don't know to avoid losing face.
I was lucky it wasn't serious - I have heard much worse stories.
