'No future at Ferrari': Stunning Vettel call could open door for Ricciardo
https://au.sports.yahoo.com/forumla-one ... 03815.html
The escalating tension between Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel has sent the Formula One rumour mill into overdrive, with Aussie driver Daniel Ricciardo’s name coming up amid rumours of upheaval at the Italian team.
A tumultuous Russian Grand Prix saw the fractured relationship between the two Ferrari drivers play out on team radio during the race. with Vettel not following team instructions to let Leclerc regain the lead as part of a pre-race agreement between the two drivers.
Despite winning the previous three races, Ferrari were forced to manage their two drivers after a strategy quirk at the previous race in Singapore led Vettel, who qualified third, to win the race over Leclerc, who started on pole.
The team had clearly made an agreement to help Leclerc, who had again qualified on pole maintain his lead of the race and hold off chief rival, Mercedes star Lewis Hamilton.
But that went out the window as Vettel pulled away from Leclerc early in the race, before falling behind in the pitstop and eventually retiring from the Russian GP with mechanical issues.
The tension between the pair has become a talking point throughout the F1 world, with Vettel’s former boss at Red Bull Racing, Dr Helmut Marko, declaring the four time world champion had ‘no future at Ferrari’.
““Ferrari has managed to not win with the fastest car,” Marko said in an interview with German outlet Auto Bild.
“And although he was the fastest man, they sacrificed Sebastian.
“He has no future at Ferrari anymore.”
Rumours swirl around Vettel, Ricciardo’s future
Marko’s comments have only furthered speculation of wholesale changes to the grid for the 2020 season, with a seat potentially up for grabs at Red Bull and rumours swirling around Vettel’s future in F1.
While the German champion is contracted for the 2020 season, there has long been speculation he could opt out of that contract and potentially either retire or join a new team.
A reunion with Red Bull, where he won four straight world championships, has often been talked up as a potential landing spot for Vettel, but the team has already indicated Max Verstappen will be their lead driver for the forseeable future.
But Red Bull haven’t settled on who takes their second seat, with Frenchman Pierre Gasly taking over from Ricciardo to begin the 2019 season, before he was cut and replaced by Thailand’s Alexander Albon.
The team has yet to confirm their second driver for 2020, with the door still open for an unlikely reunion with the team’s most successful driver.
Rumours of Vettel’s departure have also drawn in Daniel Ricciardo, with some speculating the Australian could end up replacing his former teammate at Ferrari.
Ricciardo has endured a thoroughly underwhelming first season with Renault, consistently struggling to break into the top 10 despite some encouraging results.
The French manufacturer has been eclipsed by rival and engine customer McLaren this season, leading to suggestions Ricciardo could want out of his lucrative deal if a more competitive seat becomes available.

Daniel Ricciardo forced to pay in $18 million legal dispute(link also shows predicted path of Typhoon)
https://au.sports.yahoo.com/f1-daniel-r ... 03187.html
Daniel Ricciardo has reached an out-of-court settlement over an $18 million legal dispute with his former manager, avoiding an ugly battle in court.
Glenn Beavis recently took action against Ricciardo over money he claimed to be owed from the Aussie driver's switch from Red Bull to Renault.
Ricciardo shocked the F1 world last year when he announced he would leave Red Bull to take up a two-year deal with Renault.
The 30-year-old subsequently split with Beavis, ending a partnership that began in 2012, to sign with American talent agency giants CAA Sports.
In July, Beavis served claims that he was owed a debt of 20 per cent commission on Ricciardo's base salary at Renault and a number of contractual details.
However Ricciardo was adamant the claims were unjustified and said he would fight Beavis in court.
But on Thursday it was revealed the dispute has been settled out of court.
“All done. We've put a fork in it. It is all sorted, settled,” Ricciardo told Autosport at the Japanese Grand Prix.
"I can't go into details, but we both met and it has been done and put to bed. And not in a bad way or anything.
"It actually ended a lot sweeter than it looked a few months ago."
Ricciardo admitted it was a relief to put the saga behind him.
"Up until now it didn't really weigh on me, but if it continued and it goes another year or two years down the track, because I don't know how long these things can go, then for sure it would have eventually just been something that I didn't need,” he said.
"And there is so much now with the team, not only with me, that I want to still improve and get right, so I need everything focused on this.
"And even if sometimes you think that something isn't distracting you, it could be. So I was happy to put it behind."
Ricciardo’s salary revealed in court documents
According to the documents filed by Beavis, he first discussed the driver’s move to Renault midway through 2017.
Based on Beavis's claim for £10m (AU$18m), it is suggested that Ricciardo's base salary with Renault is more than £20m – or AU$35m – per year.
"In December 2018, Beavis claims Ricciardo wanted to terminate their agreement with immediate effect," Autosport reports.
"This was delayed until the end of January 2019 as Beavis allegedly requested time to complete the long-form of the Renault F1 driver contracts.
"However, according to the claim these contracts were not finalised and signed by the end of January and Beavis continued to provide services to Ricciardo beyond that date.
"Ricciardo's Renault contract was eventually concluded on March 7, 10 days before the season-opening Australian Grand Prix."

Mercedes wins the Constructors title for this season. Also, I believe either Bottas or Hamilton are a lock for the Drivers title. More when the story is published....
EDIT: Here's the story: ...."The result secured the constructors' title for Mercedes with four races to go and while Hamilton has not quite won the drivers' championship no-one other than Bottas can catch him, which guarantees a Mercedes driver will be world champion."...........

Congratulations to Dai_L for winning this round.
Sorry Dai_L, the points have changed as they penalized Leclerc 5 seconds for a collision, and Ferrari 10 seconds for not calling him into the pits in a timely manner. That Makes Bamboo Grove the winner for this round.
I'll also post a revised leader board in a bit.
Dai_L is the winner (again).
