Post by oakdale160 »

The point is --this is a follow up to the original post by BB on Jan 24th--at that time many shared his uncertainty about what measures each person must make. Here on Mar 13 is one person's answer. Social distancing is essential and is not difficult.

Sorry, I thought you'd started off intending to say something then forgot what you were meant to say. I do it all the time.
However 2 months ago until now, the world and his dog have hammered home the necessary precautions, and sometimes unnecessary precautions.
Thanks for your input.

Is anyone else walking around thinking "do I have a fever...?" Perhaps I'm losing my mind more than I thought but I seem to be thinking about it all the time. :banghead:

If this disease doesn't get you in its own right, it may turn normal people into mental basket cases! :(

I must admit, whilst I'm recovering from a bout of 'flu, I'm often thinking "Do I have a fever?".

Are the Immigration offices checking your temperature as you enter the building? They have enough staff doing little so if they are not, they probably will be.

Yep..Been coughing and sneezing on and off for the past week. A bit weird, one day a touch of flu, the next fine then onsets again. I got checked at Macro the other day 35.9c Means nowt to me but staff were unconcerned.

But it does mess with your head a bit.

That makes you on the borderline for hypothermia!! I doubt that's true but shows the inaccuracy of the 'guns' they're using. You are considered to be suffering from hypothermia if your temp. drops to 35!

I did my 90 day at Bluport this morning. Security did not take temperatures as we entered the mall, neither did anybody as we entered Immigration. Immigration was heaving this morning. I queued to get a ticket, and then chose to wait outside. I would be surprised if there was a 1Mtr gap between those inside. Probably the busiest I've known the Bluport office.

On our last visit to Makro, I was 34.2 and Mrs BB was 31 - Note to self.......... turn the bloody aircon down :D.

Seriously, if those thermometers give a reading of 37.5 or higher, you are probably in serious trouble. My son saw a child having to be left outside yesterday because his temperature was too high. I think his parents should probably have been making a bee line to Hua Hin Hospital rather than the checkout.

Yes, any slight cough, or little sneeze :D

I have 2 friends in the UK who believe they have the virus. This is what one has posted today. If what he says is correct, I don't think we need worry too much just yet.
To all those saying this virus is a walk in the park and people are overreacting.

Wait until you have it. We can't get tested as I'm not in a risk group but based on symptoms I very likely have it and am self isolating. Trust me this is the sickest I've ever been and if you can avoid it then I strongly suggest you do your best.

Seriously if I were asthmatic I think I would be in hospital and only then if I were lucky. I can see how the elderly and anyone with an existing condition is very likely f*cked if they get this.

Fortunately I can currently walk more than a few steps now before coughing up lung oysters so I guess I'm on the mend.

When I went to Makro this morning, my temperature was also 35.9 and my wife was 35.7 so seems to indicate that it is reading low

These things are probably recording the ambient air temp. :rasta:

Edited to reflect Dannie's post re: checks at supermarkets.

Received this by Email today - some useful advice: -

The new Coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days. How can one know if he/she is infected? By the time they have fever and/or cough and go to the hospital, the lung is usually 50% Fibrosis and it's too late. Taiwan experts provide a simple self-check that we can do every morning. Take a deep breath and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you complete it successfully without coughing, without discomfort, stiffness or tightness, etc., it proves there is no Fibrosis in the lungs, basically indicates no infection. In critical time, please self-check every morning in an environment with clean air. Serious excellent advice by Japanese doctors treating COVID-19 cases: Everyone should ensure your mouth & throat are moist, never dry. Take a few sips of water every 15 minutes at least.

Why? Even if the virus gets into your mouth, drinking water or other liquids will wash them down through your throat and into the stomach. Once there, your stomach acid will kill all the virus. If you don't drink enough water more regularly, the virus can enter your windpipe and into the lungs. That's very dangerous. Please send and share this with family and friends. Take care everyone and may the world recover from this Coronavirus soon. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - CORONAVIRUS 1. If you have a runny nose and sputum, you have a common cold 2. Coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough with no runny nose. 3. This new virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed by a temperature of just 26/27 degrees. It hates the Sun. 4. If someone sneezes with it, it takes about 10 feet before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne. 5. If it drops on a metal surface it will live for at least 12 hours - so if you come into contact with any metal surface - wash your hands as soon as you can with a bacterial soap. 6. On fabric it can survive for 6-12 hours. normal laundry detergent will kill it. 7. Drinking warm water is effective for all viruses. Try not to drink liquids with ice. 8. Wash your hands frequently as the virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but - a lot can happen during that time - you can rub your eyes, pick your nose unwittingly and so on. 9. You should also gargle as a prevention. A simple solution of salt in warm water will suffice. 10. Can't emphasis enough - drink plenty of water! THE SYMPTOMS 1. It will first infect the throat, so you'll have a sore throat lasting 3/4 days 2. The virus then blends into a nasal fluid that enters the trachea and then the lungs, causing pneumonia. This takes about 5/6 days further. 3. With the pneumonia comes high fever and difficulty in breathing. 4. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You feel like you're drowning. It's imperative you then seek immediate attention.
