Covid-19 News & Updates
Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
There are now 4 cases in Hua Hin. One British tourist being treated in a private hospital. One Thai returned from UK, and two Thais who had been to Poipet. The 3 Thais are in Hua Hin hospital. The report doesn't say when they travelled.

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Here we go. It would be nice to know where they were in Hua Hin and how long they've been here. It goes on to say that all four are recovering. As usual, a lack of information.
In the meantime, the TAT has said that by May, all tourists will return to Thailand and it will be business as usual. The authorities here are making Trump look clever!

Have a look at the latest on the Trumpton thread, you may want to reconsider.

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
^^ I wonder if that total of 7 includes the Chinese tourist and the taxi driver of over a month ago. Though that would still mean 5 active cases, instead of 4.
Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Sorry, but it doesn't say anything about the police wanting to set up roadblocks. This was a municipality meeting in which someone proposed setting up screening checkpoints at 9 points in and out of HH. No decision was made on this suggestion.Big Boy wrote:7 in Hua Hin now. Thank you. I thought it was hoping for too much that the police would actually do something useful.hhinner wrote: ↑Mon Mar 23, 2020 5:17 pmSorry, but it doesn't say anything about the police wanting to set up roadblocks. Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
I doubt they have the manpower to set up checkpoints 24/7 for even a short period, even with other departments helping. It would probably need the army.Big Boy wrote:Thank you. No shortage of conscripts living side by side in close proximity. I know it's a difficult situation and don't honestly know how they could implement this without putting others at risk.

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
The big decision here is whether they restrict/ban inter-provincial travel as that will be a back-breaker. Could well be massive civil disorder if they do as most Thais won't be able to comply. SMEs devastated and looks like government help for your average Joe hasn't yet appeared on the horizon because it's all so undocumented. We are only ever like week or two away from Mad Max if no food or money.

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
Things are beginning to get a bit more difficult here in London. Panic buying is worsening with a total lockdown imminent. Most supermarkets have a 3 unit restriction on items.
The result of the restrictions is a larger volume of people congregating to buy smaller amounts more often - somewhat counterproductive in the current climate.
I'm jst staying inside. Got enough food for about 6 weeks now (edit - 12 weeks if I need to go full bear grylls survival mode). Tap water is sourced from the tap (unusually convenient at the minute). Got a home exercise programme sorted. You don't need any gym equipment to get a really good workout. Exercise is an essential vitamin.
A few good books and stacks of movies.
Staying inside isn't gonna effect me too much negatively. Sure, I may look a bit pale on surfacing and re-entering the outside world... a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
