Couple of clicks from me in London, the Excel building has been turned into a 4000 bed makeshift hospital and morgue in preparation for the impending infection/death rise.

Early days unfortunately IMHO, and we have a way to go to return to "normality" whatever that may mean.

This has (and will) hit us all hard. Changes have already been made and more are no doubt still to come. So what changes to daily life/working life/leisure/travel etc. will remain when (rather than if) the virus is under control?

Mass job losses - it's inevitable that companies will go under, how do we/they recover?
Final "Death Knell" for the High Street (UK especially)? For several years online shopping has put huge pressure on the High Street shops - now we have a virtual lockdown, will this be the end?
Working from home - millions around the world now forced to do so, how many will continue to do so, will companies look at it as an advantage in the future?
Online teaching/tutoring/fitness....?
Public transport - will the above (2 points) have an effect?
Leisure - Who would want to be "trapped" on a huge cruise ship? Thousands of passengers/crew - a breeding ground for viruses as has been shown not only by COVID-19.
Travel - Airlines/Flights, obviously airlines will be hit hard and I'm sure we'll see the end of a fair few internationally. The UK government has already stated they will not provide additional support and the airlines need to "look elsewhere". Will this also mean the end to budget airlines?

Well, the above are just a few and I'm sure the Forum will have quite a few to add - especially those related specifically to Thailand which would be interesting to hear.

Just got back after a few bevvies at one of my local restaurants. Whilst there, both the owner and a customer that arrived said that from tomorrow there is an 8pm curfew and restaurants can only do delivery and take-away.
Can't find anything official. Anyone know more?

Thailand wakes up to state of emergency, here are the provisions enacted so far,

Thailand’s government has declared a state of emergency from March 26 to April 30 to combat against the coronavirus outbreak. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha’s government has put in place several rules and regulations that are designed to mitigate the growing number of cases and ensure the rule of law over the next few weeks.

Here are the new provisions we know of so far.

‘Risky’ areas, such as sites of prior outbreaks including nightclubs and boxing stadiums, will be closed to the public indefinitely. Provincial governors will have the authority to declare which areas are risky and close them down
Indefinite closure of places of large gatherings such as schools, universities and entertainment venues
No hoarding of food, supplies, water, medicine
No public assembly
Media that publishes false information run the risk of arrest and closure
Provincial governors have complete control in their respective provinces
Persons over 70 years of age or with a history of illness as well as children under five years of age are banned from going outside
Military on standby and ready to step in should police force require it
Government and business owners are responsible for disinfecting all locations of congregation
All social events have not been banned but asked to scale down and be mindful
Inter-province travel is discouraged
Violaters of the new provisions could face up to two years in jail or a fine of 40,000 baht or both

I'm gonna venture down to Pranburi Macro early doors tomorrow, not panic buying just a normal weekly shop.

BB, did you see many shoppers wearing masks and gloves? I always wear a mask when shopping but now I'm thinking latex gloves would be advisable.

Arrived just after 6am and had the store to myself. I noticed some shelves empty (flour) and some items had a limit on the amount. 99% of the non food section was closed off and notices advising customers to shop online for electrical goods etc. As I was leaving the car park was still practically empty.

Maybe I've been living under a rock, and it's common knowledge, but if not please think of friends/neighbours who may now be imprisoned in their own homes. They will need help. I know there is the community support group, but I'm sure they'd rather see a face they know.

I'm 71.
I go out a 6am every morning to do a 6k walk. I'm fitter than the majority of 50 to 60 year olds that are retired here. Am I supposed to stop doing what I do............. they can stick that one where the sun don't shine. See you in the morning.

I too walk everyday for about 40 mins. Today I made note, did I come within 2m of any other person. NO, in fact my closest was about 10m and that of just one person.

I think the correct answer is you stop. I too have been doing the Khao Tao walk with my wife daily - in the last 4 days we've seen 2 other people, and they were masked up, so very minimal risk. However if you start making your own rules/exclusions why are we bothering? You may be fit, but you are technically being very selfish as well.

Thanks for your trouble, BB. I actually answered my own question. I assumed what Cha-cha-cha said only applied to BKK and it was still up to the governors elsewhere. After re-reading it, I realised he was talking nationwide.

Agreed...I very much doubt that the police/army would be able to effectively enforce this, but that isn't the point, i'ts about the authorities trying to minimise the risks to the general population, and being a farang you are far more open to incur the ire of the locals if you are seen to be flouting the Regs.

There's a conflict of information. The Enquirer link says as Sateeb stated, "Persons over 70 years of age or with a history of illness as well as children under five years of age are banned from going outside".
