Well let's hope they perform better on this than they have done with the testing or supply of PPE to front line workers.


"The world’s biggest trial of drugs to treat Covid-19 patients has been set up in the UK at unprecedented speed, and hopes to have some answers within weeks.

The Recovery trial has recruited more than 5,000 patients in 165 NHS hospitals around the UK in a month, ahead of similar trials in the US and Europe, which have a few hundred.

“This is by far the largest trial in the world,” said Peter Horby, professor of emerging infectious diseases and global health at Oxford University, who is leading it. He has previously led Ebola drug trials in west Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The Recovery team expects to be the first to have definitive data. “We’re guessing some time in June we may get the results,” said Horby.

“If it is really clear that there are benefits, an answer will be available quicker.” But he warned that in the case of Covid-19, there would be no “magic bullet”."

The last confirmed cases reported in Hua Hin was on the 21st March, 2 females and 2 males, one of which was from the UK. 3 of them remain in hospital.

So for almost a month now, there have been no cases here leaving 3 in hospital and only 1 death on a train from BKK.

25 provinces haven't had any reported cases since 2nd April and 9 provinces have not had a single case since the pandemic raised it's ugly head.

When restrictions were put in place they were ordered by the governors. Hence there are different restrictions in different provinces.

Chonburi have announced the immediate relaxation of some restrictions with a view to lifting most restrictions on May 1st, including bars and restaurants, in contradiction to the statement from the government.

Does Thailand have similarities to the US when it comes to the government and province governors?

Cambodia have had zero new cases since April 12th. Currently there are 24 active cases and no deaths.

Just guessing here but I think the Provincial governors are appointed and not elected as I read yesterday that Cha Cha Chump reshuffled a couple of governors to other provinces. With regards to the Covid19 restrictions CCC played a tight hand insomuch as he swerved responsibility onto the governors so it was like a domino effect as one governor instigated restrictions the others followed suit. Just my view.

£10,000,000 HIT AS OF 23:00 'ish (UK) .... (Site crashed due to too many donations!!)

Well, I did say it was fairly pointless giving updates as the amounts were just increasing so quickly. HOWEVER, this has now just passed the £20 MILLION mark!!

The downside being that the "hosting site" are trying to take a fairly major cut from the total "given" (as in multi-million cut). Fully agree that they have their costs, but unfortunately (like many) seem to be taking advantage. They say they are "generously donating £100 K" to the cause, but quite simply they should be writing off an awful lot more. This news has truly put a damper on this great effort.

Note: I say "given" as there was an "additional charge" for my donation which I accepted (running/hosting costs). HOWEVER, as I have now discovered, there were were other "deductions" from my donation which were not obvious (I wonder if the site is hosted in China)!!

I seem to recall that the Govt gave a whole list of suggestions to all Governors but let them decide which to enforce, hence why there are differences with some provinces.

I think they were very strong suggestions, with the PM stating if they weren't executed, the Governors would find themselves in a dead end desk job somewhere. Also I believe the swap of Governors between Petchaburi and Phuket is for not toeing the party line.

Their percentage should ramp down as the total goes up especially in these circumstances. Suspect they'll be in for some bad press next few weeks, so they have the opportunity to get ahead of it.

Out of 77 provinces (incl. BKK), 25 have had no new cases for 2 weeks and 9 have never had a case since the start.

Build a wall around Bangkok and the problem is solved!!!
