I'm part of a group of almost 100 Icelanders coming to Hua Hin on the 26. of mai and we are going to be on the Hilton Hotel
I'm interested to know if it is ok to go topless on beach an hotel swimingpool. Also if it is ok to wear thong there?
Agree with tuktuk. Public nudity is illegal in Thailand. Although you may get away with it in touristy areas, it is definitely frowned upon by locals and westerners alike. You'll not make many friends and if a large proportion of your party are topless, you'll know how it feels to be in a zoo when numerous Thai males sit down close and stare at you.
Most of us are used to going to our holidays in Spain og Grees were this things are considerd OK.
So I just wanted to make sure that we dont offend anybody.
Off topic.
Are there any places that we could arrange an dinner and a party after for approx. 100 people?
At the HH pool, topless is not a goer. However, thong is OK and is regularly to be seen at the HH pool. Topless at the beach near the major hotels is not a goer. However, during the week (when folks from Bangkok are not doing the weekend trip to their holiday houses) there are plenty of spots on the beach between HH and Khao Takiab that are more or less deserted, save for the odd farang or two taking a long stroll along the beach.
A comment from your eastern bro here in Pattaya, those I've seen topless this past high season, I really didn't want to see. Not poster or photo material. In fact my girlfriend described most of them as women with over ripe papayas hanging from their chests...LOL. Pete
Saw quite a fit young blonde sat topless on the beach in front of the Hilton last year but I think she is the only topless lady I have ever seen (in Hua Hin)..... .
I've been 30 times to Iceland, in the days when I was an international rally driver, I have competed on the Iceland International Rally 11 times ! It's a fantastic country. The thought of 100 fun-loving, crazy Icelanders arriving in Hua Hin stirs my soul !! Wish I was there as the fun (and drink) factors will be as high as the suncream factor should be ! Icelanders know how to have a good time. It's kind of like bringing coffee to Brazil, mind you, as Icelandic girls are not backward at coming forward....
I would encourage you to respect the local customs and sensibilities and the resort will welcome you back. Hua Hin is not Pattaya, and the local scene is more conservative than you may have experienced in Spain or Greece. Please bear that in mind and have a really great holiday.
