Breast implants saved woman shot in chest

https://www.bangkokpost.com/world/19051 ... t-in-chest

WASHINGTON: A woman's life was likely saved by her silicone breast implants after she was shot in the chest at close range while walking down a street in Toronto, doctors have said.

The 30-year-old's left breast implant deflected the bullet away from her vital organs into the other breast, according to a case study published last week in the SAGE medical journal.

The incident, which occurred in 2018, is one of only a handful of cases where a woman was saved by her breast implants and is believed to be the first involving silicone ones, the study said.

The patient, who was not named, went to the local emergency department in the Canadian city after feeling pain in her chest and seeing blood.

Surgeons found a single entry wound and retrieved a bullet from below her right breast, which police forensics later determined was a copper jacketed 0.40 calibre, the study said.

They removed her implants and photographs with the study and CT scans show the bullet passed through her left implant and hit her right one.

"Based on trajectory of bullet entry clinically and evaluation radiologically, the only source of bullet deflection of the bullet is the left breast implant," it said.

"This implant overlies the heart and intrathoracic cavity and therefore likely saved the woman's life."

Surgeon Giancarlo McEvenue, who wrote the case study, told CNN the bullet entered the woman's left side and ricocheted across her sternum into the right breast.

"The implant caused the change in the trajectory of the bullet," he said.
"On the left hand side is the heart and lungs -- if the bullet would have gone into the chest, she would have had a much more serious, possibly life-threatening injury."

Despite being shot in the chest at close range, the woman escaped relatively unscathed with a fractured rib and damaged implants.

The shooting was under investigation, the study said.
"The firearm was never recovered, and the shooter remains unknown."

Johnny Cash used to sing a song: "Don't Take Your Guns to Town". When I lived in Singapore many years ago I had an Indian girlfriend that could have given Dolly Parton competition. One of the bars that we used to go too knew her, and whenever she went in there they would straight away start to sing: "Ruby, don't take your tits to town"!

Do it yourself: Ikea masturbation video goes viral in China

https://www.bangkokpost.com/world/19161 ... a#cxrecs_s

BEIJING: Ikea has said it will take "more careful" security measures in its shops in China after an explicit video of a woman masturbating in one of its stores went viral online.

The pornographic clip shows a woman pleasuring herself half-naked on various sofas and beds in the furniture store's showroom, while oblivious shoppers walk by in the background.

While uncensored versions of the video have been scrubbed from Chinese social media, the Swedish company's response to the clip gained nine million views.

"We resolutely oppose and condemn this kind of behaviour, and immediately reported it to the police in the city of the suspected store," Ikea said in a statement, without revealing the name of the branch.

The homeware group said Saturday that it would take "even more careful security and public cleanliness measures" and encouraged all customers to "browse stores in an orderly and civilised way".

The identity of the woman and the person who filmed it have not been revealed.

Some Chinese social media users have speculated it was a store in Guangdong province, as Cantonese -- spoken in parts of southern China -- can be heard in the background store announcements.

Baffled users online also pointed out that nobody is wearing face masks in the video, suggesting it was filmed before the coronavirus outbreak which brought China to a standstill from late January.

"This woman is so brave, I don't understand, [she's] just doing it in broad daylight," read one Weibo post that gained more than 8,000 likes.

"There are so many people around, I just don't understand," another wrote.

It is not the first explicit video to cause a stir on China's tightly controlled social media platforms.

A Beijing branch of the Japanese clothing chain Uniqlo became infamous in 2015, after a clip of a couple having sex in one of its changing rooms went viral.

Police arrested five people, including the young couple in the video, over the matter, while Uniqlo firmly denied that it was a publicity stunt.

The clip "severely violated socialist core values," the Chinese Cyberspace Administration said at the time.

Chinese citizens can face up to ten days' administrative detention for deliberate public nudity, while those who upload and disseminate obscene content online face up to 15 days' detention and a maximum fine of 3,000 yuan (13,644 baht).

Machete-wielding sex burglar cleared after Aussie fantasy goes wrong

https://www.bangkokpost.com/world/19264 ... g#cxrecs_s

SYDNEY - A knife-toting Australian hired to break into another man's home, tie him up and stroke him with a broom has been cleared of intimidation after accidentally entering the wrong house.

Sydney man Terrence Leroy and an associate turned up at a rural home on a quiet Sunday morning last July armed and ready to carry out a sexual fantasy organised on Facebook.

The unsuspecting resident initially mistook the intruders for a friend who had come over to make coffee and said: "Bugger off, it's too early".

When the men said their intended role-player's name, the startled resident turned on the light and found them holding large knives next to his bed.

After realising he was not the willing participant, one of the pair apologised and shook the man's hand before leaving, according to court documents published earlier this month.

During the trial Leroy's lawyer argued that there was no intention to intimidate the stranger.

"It was a commercial agreement to tie up and stroke a semi-naked man in his underpants with a broom," the lawyer said.

After excusing themselves, the pair -- along with a driver -- then headed to the correct address.

But instead of a kinky encounter, the client reportedly prepared a breakfast and Leroy fell asleep on the couch.

Shortly afterwards, police arrived.

Judge Sean Grant said he was satisfied Leroy -- who was to be paid Aus$5,000 (US$3,323) if it was "really good" -- mixed-up the address.

"They carried the machetes either as a prop or something to use in that fantasy," Grant said.

"The fantasy was unscripted and there was discretion as to how it would be carried out."

Leroy was found not guilty of all charges.

(it is not known if the intruders were wearing a face mask and practicing social distancing  )

"Brothers let black widow bite them in hopes of turning into Spider-Man

May 30, 2020, 9:00 AM EDT

Three Bolivian brothers, ages 8, 10 and 12, were hospitalized after they let a black widow spider bite them in an attempt to turn into the Marvel superhero Spider-Man, the New York Post reports, citing Spanish network Telemundo.

The unnamed boys reportedly goaded the spider into biting them by poking it with a stick. When their mother found them crying, she immediately took them to a health center, Virgilio Pietro, a Bolivian official told Telemundo.

The brothers were transferred to a local hospital before being transferred again to the Children’s Hospital in La Paz. They allegedly experienced muscle pain, tremors and fevers. The children were discharged on May 20, a week after the incident.

Known for an hourglass-shaped mark on their abdomens, black widow spiders have a dangerous bite — their venom is 15 times stronger than that of a rattlesnake, according to National Geographic. Most of these arachnids are the size of a paper clip and can live up to three years in the wild.

In the comics, Spider-Man, whose real name is Peter Parker, received his superhuman powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Created by Stan Lee, the hero is one of the most popular characters in the Marvel universe — the last Spider-Man film, "Spider-Man: Far From Home," alone earned more than $1 billion at the box office."
