Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations
HUA HIN NEWS
“Hua Hin Airport to increase domestic flights in August”
Hua Hin Airport will be operational for domestic flights starting August 7, increasing the district’s local tourism.
Mr Udon Allson, adviser for the Deputy Minister of Transport has told Hua Hin Today that Thai Air Asia has issued a letter to increase its domestic flights starting next month. The flight schedules are as follows:
Flight FD3910 Hua Hin - Udon Thani |departure time: 11.30 | arrival: 12.55 (Friday, Sunday)
Flight FD3911 Udon Thani - Hua Hin | departure time: 13.25 | arrival: 14.40 (Friday, Sunday)
Flight FD3900 Chang Mai - Hua Hin | departure time: 10.00 | arrival: 11.00 (Friday, Sunday)
Flight FD3901 Hua Hin - Chiang Mai |departure time: 15.10 | arrival: 16.10 (Friday, Sunday)
A budget of 250 million baht has been allocated to Hua Hin Airport for the extension of its runway in order to support international flights as well.
PM Prayut Chan-o-cha together with the Ministry of Tourism had recently launched the ‘Travel Bubble’ plan to increase domestic and international tourism in order to revive the country’s crippled economy caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is expected that this travel plan will boost the tourism industry in Prachuap Khiri Khan and Petchaburi provinces.
Mr Udon believes that there will be more flights from other major cities to Hua Hin in the near future.
He also encouraged entrepreneurs of tourism-related businesses in preparing themselves and promote the "Thai Thiew Thai" project to ensure the region’s economy as more local and international tourists will start pouring towards the end of the year if the ‘second wave’ of the pandemic will not occur.

Interesting report. But I think 'start' would be a more appropriate word.
I hope they add Khon Kaen to that list, then I can avoid a trip to Bkk. But even Udon is an improvement. Can fly there and hire a car to use to travel to KK.
Talk is cheap

Yeah, it’s a great start. My gf has family in Sakon Nakhon, so flights to Udon Thani to see them won’t entail that arduous road trek up to Bangkok anymore. And as a plus, the best burger I’ve ever had in Thailand is at the Brick House in that city. I would love to find to something local that unseats them from their title, but until then, it’s comforting to know I can fly up there anytime I want an awesome burger (only half kidding).

Would it be feasible to fly to Udon Thani, pop over the border to Laos, then return, to get a further 30 days to stay in Thailand?

Udon Thani is certainly close enough to Vientiane to do a visa run, but best to wait until things get back to normal, obviously. I think a lot of people do use that Nong Kai crossing. I’ve never done a border run myself.

AirAsia is introducing two domestic cross-region routes: Chiang Mai-Hua Hin and Udon Thani-Hua Hin, to stimulate domestic tourism in Thailand.
This would allow getaways to one of Thailand’s most popular resort towns on the new twice-weekly flight, every Friday and Sunday.
A special fare of THB777 per trip is being promoted to BIG members or THB820 for other guests. The new service will start 7 August.
Chief Executive of AirAsia Thailand, Santisuk Klongchaiya, said that “AirAsia is always seeking new opportunities to stimulate domestic tourism as well as offer convenient connections between the nation’s regions, noting Hua Hin is a high potential destination that has long been demanded.”
“We believe this is the year of domestic tourism both for Thai travellers and business operators, which is why we have connected Hua Hin to the northern city of Chiang Mai and to the northeast via Udon Thani, flying twice a week on Fridays and Sundays to allow travellers to spend their weekends in the resort town with ease, expediency coupled with great savings,” Santisuk said.

Maybe just to get the special fare?
Re: Hua Hin Airport Begins Flights to Chiang Mai & Udon Thani on August 7th
I noticed that Air Asia were advertising flights on the Udon Thani route for 999 Baht up until October 2021, I looked to book from Udon to Hua Hin in April next year, after flying from Phuket to Udon a few days before, the last date available is 26 March, Chiang Mai is still showing availability into April.
I hope this means they haven't loaded the flights on yet, rather than they are dropping the route.

They have now cancelled the flights up to and including 14 Feb, or at least they're only showing flights for sale from the 19th.
They're still only selling flights until 26 March.
