Best Value Bar
Baa Baa , i know what you are saying and i agree but the profate does not have to be so high. And i take the beer home to my house and the satellite TV and chairs are very good , i live out in the plantations on the phech river and dont get to town very much if i did i would be used to bar price's i think

Beer Prices
I have many friends who own bars here and I find it somewhat suprising that people find the bars here exspensive. Ive been paying 70 THB a bottle since I came here five years ago.
A bottle now costs 37 THB Trade so how are they to survive if they sell it for 50THB ?, Some of the rents on these bars our astronomical.
Now if im gonna have a winge its about the price of spirits JD and coke 130THB now that is exspensive relative to the beer.
If I look at my disposable income here a good % is spent on the amber nectar. However I did not come here to live like a hermit and stay at home to watch Coronation Street.
The great thing about living here is the Social Life. And after all who really gives a dam about 10 THB per bottle difference in Bars.

Because not all of us are on a two week holiday and not all of us are on fat western salaries - everything has to be put into perspective.Jack Daniel wrote:Why not compare to your own contry?
I largely agree with gooze on this, the bars have to make a profit, their overheads are shocking, you have the choice not to go there and they do provide a service (and no I don't run one).
Its all about choice folks!

The last time I was back in the UK (last September), it seemed most people were using off licences and drinking back home. It's just too expensive. The occasional night out on the tiles, but not as it was years ago. Pubs were being converted into flats. That will certainly will make the brewery more money - in most instances.
When I had a bar here, years ago, we always pretty much doubled the trade price of beer to our retail price. We had to. And we made virtually nothing after paying for rent and other overheads.
The money's on the top shelf and cocktails - not beer.
Totally agree with gooze and Jack Daniel.

Bearhug,
I think your have tried your hardest to promote this one bar just because of cheap chang price.
I have never had a drink in a bar in HH so I will not try and put one up against another. I will however explain to you that all business proprietors in all types of business have the right to choose their prices and can put them up and down when they want to.
Are all Hotels and Guest houses prices for a bed the same?
There are many reasons why one business will lower their prices.
Probably the most obvious is "to attract more customers"
Naturally if one choose to do that, they make less profit!
Many have succumbed to that strategy and failed miserably.
On the other hand, other proprietors may choose to keep their prices higher.
This means thay make a higher % profit and also assist in KEEPING RIFF RAFF AND TROUBLEMAKERS OUT.
Those types prefer cheaper places.

You eat, drink and sleep at All nations because you can get cheap chang.
Why not go crazy one night and sit and drink a can of chang on the 7/11 steps on Bintabaht.
Which Bar do you own BaaBaa?

Anyway, has it not crossed your mind that All Nations makes it's money primarily from renting out rooms, then does food and drink cheap to try and keep the patrons in there.
It's a secondary income source.
Bars have to rely on the income from their beer as it's their main income source, they sure don't make much money from the odd bar fine here and there.
Also All Nations bar area has two staff on salaries, most bars have between 6 to 12 on salaries, therefore bigger overheads.
Think about it.

I hope this establishment is giving you a fat discount for all the plugging you're giving it on here ... you'll probably need it too by the sounds of your budget - its pretty lame if a person selects a venue solely based on its price of beverages.BEARHUG wrote: Dont sleep there, wont drink Chang on 7/11 steps as I cannot play pool their or eat nice food at a table or get served, can at All Nation's and wont get ripped off..

This is correct, and I am constantly in search of a venue where the serving wench has legs close to 1 meter, and a gleaming smile as she slowly bends over to place the beers on the table.buksida wrote:- its pretty lame if a person selects a venue solely based on its price of beverages.

Once the 'coyote dancing' problem disolves into the past, maybe time to open "Hooters Thailand"? They've just opened one in China but I hear having some problems concerning the 'hooter quality'...LOL.
