Further developments in Solid State Batteries are being made by a number of companies - this is just one, but it looks promising that the breakthrough will come within the next couple of years which should make a huge impact on the electrification of cars

Yes, the MG EP EV here is the same as the MG5 EV in the UK.

I was wrong about it being the first EV in Thailand under 1 million Baht - but the only others are the two tiny, local-made ones.

These are on display in Market Village.

A farang had just purchased one and they were taking photos of him with his purchase agreement & all the logos, etc.

I think I can translate that Thai sign for you...

I believe the specs state the top speed is 5-6 km/h and it will take you 40 - 50 minutes to travel 1km (60 - 70 minutes with headwind).
Then it will take 12" hours to recharge.

😆😆😆 Don't disagree with that!
It's a glorified mobility vehicle that doesn't quite fit anywhere and is certainly overpriced for what it is supposed to do.
Just thought I'd set the record straight re what they advertise..

Certainly looks good, but with that performance I hope it handles better than Mustangs I've driven in the past - soft "American" suspension and dire cornering.....

Interesting again to see the "Federal Tax Credit" - the equivalent of which is not offered in the UK. It's a big incentive....

You'll need that tax credit to pay for the maintenance and repairs. After all, it is a Ford.

An Australian 'auto expert's' views on electric cars. More entertaining than the usual, IMO.

I’ve ordered the MG HS hybrid - delivery is supposed to be early December but we all know about Thai promises - made to be broken!!

The test drive was good and the car has great qualities - very quiet in EV mode and pretty potent in Super Sport mode (max petrol and electric). It has virtually every safety feature as you would get on a Merc or an Audi at more than double the price. I realise that they are no doubt better quality, I just hope that the MG isn’t too much Style over Substance - I’ll let you know in due course!!

I thought I would update on the MG HS PHEV, now that I’ve had it almost a week ( about 6 weeks later than originally advised).

Other than the short test drives, I’d never driven an electric powered car before and the first thing you notice is the relative quietness compared to driving a diesel engined car - it’s not just the absence of noise but also the smoothness.

Fully charged, a range of 67 kms is indicated and having twice made the journey to Tha Yang, I can confirm that it’s not overly optimistic, and on the first occasion I returned from a 58 km journey with 7 kms range remaining traveling at up to 90 kph where possible and 6 kms traveling at up to 95 kph.

Recharging takes over 5.1/2 hours from the almost depleted state from a standard wall socket, once the wall charger they provided is fitted, it should halve the time to recharge.

It’s early days, but so far I’m extremely happy with my purchase.

When did the pronunciation of the letter 'R" disappear from the Australian language. And when did "A" turn into "I?" I know that it was there in the '60's. My guess would be that the "I" comes from the Cockney and I don't know when or where the "R" turned into "AH," as in faht.

Without actually watching it, as an Australian, did this review go bad because there was not enough room to hold a slab of beer?
