Whilst driving this morning, I've heard twice Surf FM News state that authorities have re-opened a lot of businesses such as gyms. I've not seen any other news regarding this locally. Has anybody got any more information? I have e-mailed Surf FM, but I'm not sure they will respond.

There was nothing on the official province site yesterday.

No, we seem to be the forgotten province. I see some local gyms are taking a leap of faith and re-opening today.

I've seen many similar photos in the last week showing Hua Hin Night Market deserted. In this photo, the caption says the seafood restaurants can't afford to stock expensive fresh seafood when there are no customers to buy it. Similarly, I drove past Tamarind Market yesterday evening. It was open, but if there were a dozen customers in there, I'd be very surprised.

A lot of inter-provincial train services will be restored from 26 Jan. However, Prachuap is still the forgotten province with regards lifting of other restrictions. I guess 1 case of Covid in 9 months has really panicked somebody.

No regard is obviously given to the fact that our one case in 9 months travelled from elsewhere, so lets resume the inter-provincial rail services :?

That is what I read on Facebook :
The State Railway of Thailand will suspend 57 more locals train services starting on Tuesday to restrict travel that could further spread Covid-19. These are 13 on the northern line, 18 on the northeastern routes, 12 in the southern region and 14 eastern trains.

Problem is, this is Thailand, and people will simply find other ways to travel.

I think the government (such as it is) is in a state of panic after the outbreaks in the north and Samut Sakhon with no real vaccination plan in sight.

Further down the line, with the local population not vaccinated how will Thailand be able to welcome international vaccinated tourists until we know vaccination prevents being a spreader?

It's only a week until the schools, (and maybe bars?) are scheduled to re-open on 1st Feb. Anyone heard anything to contradict or support this?

I think this is the problem, we are all suffering mushroom syndrome. Nobody knows. Many of us have been expecting a lifting of restrictions for over a week now, and don't know why Prachuap with one case of Covid in 9 months is being singled out, when places like Bangkok with new cases daily have had numerous restrictions eased.

Oh please, BB, just for me. What is 'mushroom syndrome'. Never heard of it but that probably puts me in the minority.
